Un siècle plus tard, le 11 novembre est commémoré comme le jour du Souvenir au Canada et la Journée des anciens combattants aux États-Unis. Cette date est également d'une grande importance en Europe et en Amérique du Nord en hommage à toutes celles et ceux qui ont servi depuis la Grande Guerre.
