Our high-efficiency motors and drives power sustainability at Aurubis. Europe’s leading copper producer, Aurubis, is implementing a major upgrade to its Pirdop plant in Bulgaria. 460 motors are being replaced with our high-efficiency IE4 & IE5 motors, many of which are paired with ACS880 industrial variable speed drives. Our colleague Riccardo Rinaldi just experienced a Zurich icon for the first time – and discovered some of our technology along the way! 🚡 The Polybahn has been climbing between Central station and ETH Zurich for 130 years, carrying over 2 million passengers annually up this 176-meter journey. But in 2021, this beloved funicular got a major upgrade. Our energy-efficient drive solutions now power the Polybahn with regenerative braking technology – meaning every trip downhill feeds energy back into the grid to help power the trip back up. On Friday, November 28, 2025, we had the privilege of joining the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Izba Przemysłowo - Handlowa w Krakowie – an organization that for years has been implementing strategies to build a strong economic self-government and providing comprehensive support to member companies in developing their business activities. During the event, numerous awards were presented, including those for the winners of the “Business Gamification” competition. Organized by the Chamber in collaboration with the AGH University Faculty of Management, this initiative aims to foster entrepreneurial spirit among young people. Participants manage virtual companies in an online game, gaining hands-on experience in business decision-making. As a proud member company, ABB was honored to support this initiative. On our behalf, Michał Sokołowski and Ewelina Dymek presented the award to the winners of Business Gamification 2025 – Balcerożercy SQUAD from XXXI High School in Cracow: Wiktor Popiołek, Norbert Szeremet, and Bartłomiej Konopka.
