It is one thing to be a caregiver. It is something else entirely to be a caregiver for your spouse. Taking care of the person who you’ve not only shared your bed with for years but who possibly knows you better than you know yourself can rank among the most emotionally challenging experiences of your lifetime. It can also be the most fulfilling.

It is important, though, to approach it with your eyes open, your mind well-educated, and your heart prepared for unexpected twists and turns that seemed unimaginable when you married.
