Fandom requires that topics, especially articles about living people, meet a basic threshold of notability before a wiki or page is created.

General Principles[]

  • Wikis should cover subjects with demonstrable, sustained interest from a community.
  • Pages about living people must be written with particular care, as they can directly affect someone’s reputation and privacy. Please see the Living People section of the Community Creation and Content Policy for more.
  • Wikis should not serve as vanity projects or advertising platforms for individuals, groups, or organizations.

Notability Standards[]

A new wiki may be created if the main subject meets general notability guidelines:

  • Significant Coverage: The person or topic has received substantial coverage in reliable, published sources that are independent of the subject, such as but not limited to, gaming or entertainment press, industry publications, or reputable news outlets.
  • Independent Verification: The subject’s significance can be confirmed by multiple independent, notable sources, not solely by the subject themselves.

Supplemental criteria that may establish notability include:

  • For living people: documented contributions to notable works, significant roles in the gaming or entertainment industry, widespread established recognition as a content creator or influencer, or sustained community impact.
  • For other topics: a published or publicly released work or a developer/publisher/studio with notable releases. Examples may include a video game, expansion, webcomic, or series.

Wikis should not be created for:

  • Private individuals who have not received significant, independent coverage.
  • Promotional or vanity subjects.

Flexibility[]

Notability is a guideline, not a hard rule. Fandom may make exceptions for emerging topics or people who are rapidly gaining recognition. This is if users provide clear evidence that the subject is likely to meet standards soon and the community is committed to maintaining the wiki.

While not every notability criterion must be met, subjects should generally fulfill most of the established guidelines to warrant a wiki.

Review and Enforcement[]

Fandom staff may delete, merge, or redirect wikis or pages that do not meet notability requirements. Communities may appeal notability determinations by providing additional independent sources or evidence of significance. Please contact our Support team with any appeals.
