The Unbroken Spirit: Why the Heart of Rodeo Needs You at the National Finals

Rodeo

Every year, under the blinding lights of Las Vegas, the National Finals Rodeo delivers a spectacle of grit, speed, and undeniable courage. We cheer for the champions, we gasp at the 90-point rides, and we witness the poetry of a perfect run. But behind the roar of the crowd lies a quiet, profound truth: this is the most dangerous eight seconds in sports.

For the cowboys and cowgirls who live their lives in the chute, every performance is a gamble against gravity, power, and fate. We celebrate their toughness, but we must also acknowledge their vulnerability. When a dream ride ends in a devastating injury, a shattered bone, a torn ligament, a life suddenly put on hold, the cheers fade, and the financial reality hits like a ton of dirt. That’s where the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF) steps in.

The JCCF is the financial and emotional backbone for injured professional rodeo athletes. It is the safety net that allows a cowboy to focus on healing, not bankruptcy, ensuring that the same spirit that built the sport can focus on fighting back. They provide need-based financial assistance for professional rodeo athletes who’ve sustained catastrophic injuries, proving that in the rodeo community, no one gets left behind.

Show Your Heart: Four Ways to Give Back at the NFR

This December in Las Vegas, as you celebrate the pinnacle of rodeo, we urge you to open your heart and your wallet. Every moment of excitement at the NFR is an opportunity to support the heroes who give us this thrill. Here are four powerful ways your passion can become profound compassion:

1. Own a Legend: The Traveling Charm Belt—2025 Raffle

Imagine holding a piece of Western history in your hands—a unique belt built by silversmiths from around the world, carrying over 300 sterling silver charms shaped by grit and tradition. Every charm on this belt was hand-forged in sterling silver and donated by an artist. Each one tells a story—of grit, heritage, and craftsmanship. The belt will travel across the country, stopping in photo shoots, events, and the hands of some of the biggest names in the Western industry before heading to NFR. And, it could end up YOURS. This is more than an accessory; it’s a testament to the community’s heart. Every raffle entry is a direct lifeline to an athlete in need. Don’t just watch history; own a piece of it and help mend a champion.

2. Craftsmanship Meets Compassion: The 2025 Bench Collection Auction

Bring Western heritage into your home with a profound purpose. This collection features five custom benches and one signature chandelier, handcrafted in Texas, rooted in tradition, and signed by rodeo legends. These works are a testament to the best of Western artistry, standing at the crossroads of craftsmanship and compassion. Bidding on one of these exclusive pieces means your home will forever hold a story of generosity.

3. Strike for a Story: The JCCF Charity Bowling Tournament

Unwind with a day of good fun, good friends, and bowling for a cause! The annual JCCF Charity Bowling Tournament, presented by Boyd Gaming, is a relaxed, family-friendly break during the NFR. Whether you join the Open division or the Rodeo Committee Challenge, securing a lane means securing a recovery fund for an injured athlete. Come share a pizza, connect with the community, and bowl for the backbone of the sport.

Join Cowboy Lifestyle Network at the Charity Bowling Tournament on Saturday, December 6, at the Orleans in Las Vegas. Challenge your friends to give up their cowboy boots for a few hours and don a pair of bowling shoes. We look forward to seeing you all!

4. Fashion, Food, and Fundraising: Pro Rodeo League of Women Luncheon & Auction

Join the leaders in the arena for a celebration of fashion, food, and fundraising. The Pro Rodeo League of Women brings together the community for a silent and live auction featuring standout items that reflect Western heritage. This premier gathering, featuring fashions from Wrangler, Rock n Roll Denim, STS, and Justin Boots, is a powerful and elegant way to support the athletes who define the spirit of the West. Join us on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 am at South Point in Las Vegas, NV.

Biography:

I grew up on a Midwest farm with dirt under my fingernails and the sound of wind rustling through cornfields. My childhood was all about 4H – raising pigs and horses, learning to bake and sew, and discovering the magic of transforming a garden into jars of summer sunshine. Those years taught me the value of hard work, the thrill of seeing a project through to the end, and the simple joy of creating something beautiful. A country girl with a need for speed and a thirst for adventure. Maybe that's why I love the feeling of wind in my hair – whether I'm cruising down a dusty road on my Harley or tackling a mountain trail on my trusty mountain bike. Some of my earliest memories of rodeo are watching my father compete at small local events. That's also where my love for country music comes in – long car rides listening to 8 tracks. The lyrics and melodies always spoke to my soul. These days, you'll find me cheering on the cowboys and cowgirls at rodeos, two-stepping to my favorite bands, belting out a country tune at a concert or sharing stories and laughter with friends around a bonfire. When I'm not soaking up the country life and getting my boots dirty, I'm a nurse, caring for folks in my community. Follow along for more stories from the heart of rodeo and country life!
