Basically every Game company wants to see a portfolio that exhibits your skill set. If you're specializing in AI though, what and how should you show off your skills.

Some thoughts

  • Is nice graphics in an AI demo a must(get past nontechnical HR that don't understand AI, think 3d verse 2d)?
  • Demo multi-featured AI or a single focused example.
  • Fundamental skills like path-finding, hfsm, planning, etc are critical AI components but does it really impress as a portfolio piece?
  • Single AI entity, multiple entities, or large populations, is more always better?
  • Also as a portfolio piece ideally there would be an executable, and videos which should show off whatever is trying to be shown off within only a few minutes.

Examples

I would say any of the skills exhibited in this video would make for a great portfolio piece but are game companies really expecting this from a single person.

AI Sandbox is another great example but this was made from the work of many many people.

Any examples of good AI portfolios would be great. [2]: http://aisandbox.com/
