The opening of the new U.S. Consulate General compound in Erbil is a clear testament to the strong partnership between the United States and the people of the Kurdistan Region. We support President Trump’s policy of peace through strength and commerce, not conflict.

We’re growing our industrial sector to diversify Kurdistan’s economy and create more jobs. This new phone and tablet factory in Erbil will provide 400 jobs and open more opportunities for our people.

I opened the final phase of the Emergency Water Project for Erbil. Completed with an investment of $480 million in record time, it provides clean water to Erbil and solves water shortage issues for the next 30 years.

Dwin Castle is one of our historic and touristic landmarks and the fortress of Salahaddin Ayyubi. The KRG is restoring it based on its original design as part of our plan to preserve and promote cultural heritage and tourism sites across Kurdistan.

I visited the new Dwin Dam, which will hold 100 million cubic meters of water in Erbil. The project will contribute to the area’s climate, support agriculture and tourism, and create new jobs for our people.

We laid the foundation stone for Pathway of Life in Erbil, a project that will have wide-ranging impacts on the capital’s development, particularly in tourism. With these projects, real change is coming to the quality of life, environment, and health of our people soon.

I'm pleased to open the new Haji Omaran freeway, constructed with a budget of $27m. Despite difficult terrain, we will continue to build new roads and provide services throughout Kurdistan. More and better projects are coming soon.

Today, we inaugurated a $600m pipeline delivering gas to power plants. Progress looks better in the long view: In this cabinet, we built new pipelines, doubled gas production, and brought 24-hour electricity to 4+ million people — a win for citizens, investors and the economy.
