Metro Pizza will close its flagship location on Tropicana Avenue this week, the restaurant said today in a social media post.

The pizzeria will serve its last customers on Friday, marking the end of a 37-year run on Tropicana, just east of Maryland Parkway. Near the UNLV campus, it was headquarters for Rebel basketball viewing events and more.

"We are deeply grateful to all of our Metro Pizza friends and family for your support over the many decades," the post said.

Metro Pizza will continue operations at its other Las Vegas valley locations. All staff members from the Tropicana location will transfer to other locations.

"Come visit us one last time at our Tropicana Ave. location this Friday, November 28th in celebration of our history, our loyal staff... and of course, our future," the announcement stated. "The Best is Yet to Come!"

The post didn’t indicate why they were shuttering the Tropicana location. Customers commenting on the post shared their memories: "Such a major bummer. This was my first Metro Pizza and a place where I started an epic Pizza journey and forged new relationships," wrote one commenter.

Another said, "No this has been my go too for 20 years."

The local chain has five other locations in all corners of the valley.
