Safety has always been part of our DNA, and the fully electric Volvo EX90 is a powerful example of what that means in practice. In the latest round of Euro NCAP safety testing, the EX90 earned a maximum five-star rating, placing it among the highest-performing cars this year. Every Volvo car begins as a lump of clay. In Volvo Cars’ renowned clay studio, a small team of craftspeople quite literally shape the future with their hands.   From the first sculpted line to the final polished surface, these clay models bring tomorrow’s designs to life years before they reach the road. “The clay gives the design its soul,” says Jonas Almgren, Head of Physical Modelling at Volvo Cars.   For Tom Joyce and Albin Larsson, two of Volvo’s master modellers, it is a tactile craft where every millimetre matters. Working closely with designers and engineers, they transform sketches into full-scale prototypes that define the look, feel and character of a new car.   As Lisa Reeves, Head of Interior Design, explains: “Clay captures the feeling of the design. It gives us the first physical experience of how a car will truly look and feel.” Technology drives innovation, but craftsmanship shapes emotion. Last week Alwin Bakkenes, our Head of Global Software Engineering, was on stage at the FT Future of AI summit.   He joined an inspiring group of leaders, researchers and innovators who are shaping what comes next in AI.  In a panel discussion, Alwin highlighted Volvo Cars’ track record of using data to improve safety. Congratulations to all finishers, including the 14 Volvo Cars employees who completed the 26.2-mile journey. Supporting them along the way were 23 Volvo vehicles, including 10 EX90s in safety orange, arranged by Volvo Car USA to serve as pace cars and operations vehicles across all five boroughs. Our executive management team today presented how we are structurally building a company towards a long-term EBIT margin of over 8 per cent, strong positive cash flows and growth through electrification. They did so during our 2025 Strategy Update in Stockholm, an event to update investors and financial analysts on our strategic direction as a company.   The upcoming EX60 mid-size SUV, which we will reveal in January 2026, will be an important factor in electrified growth and a game-changer in terms of price, performance and cost. Other building blocks for our future direction include structurally lower investments from 2026 onwards, ongoing variable cost reductions and further indirect cost reductions.   “Electrification is an opportunity for us and the main driver for growth,” says our CEO Håkan Samuelsson. “In a hypercompetitive industry, we are focused on creating a better cost structure and developing attractive regional cars.”   Check the comments to watch the full event on demand and read the press release.
