Our early version of the NotebookLM mobile app includes many core features of NotebookLM and is designed to help you understand anything, anywhere. With the app, you can:
- Get insights in the moment by asking questions about your sources.
- Listen to Audio Overviews on the go and download them for offline playback.
- Review material using flashcards or quizzes.
- Visualize or present key insights from your sources using infographics and slide decks.
- Share content directly to NotebookLM when viewing a website, PDF, or YouTube video on your device.
Device Requirements
On Android, the NotebookLM mobile app is available on phones and tablets, running Android 10 and up.How to download the NotebookLM mobile app
- On your phone or tablet.
- Visit this link in your default browser.
- You can also open the Play Store on your mobile device and search for "NotebookLM."
- Select the official NotebookLM app.
- Tap Install.

How to use the NotebookLM mobile app
- On your device, open the NotebookLM mobile app.
- Open a notebook.
- To create a new notebook, select
Create New.
- You can also select an existing notebook under Recent, Shared, Title, or Downloaded.
- To create a new notebook, select
- Add a source:
- Select PDF, Website, YouTube, Audio File, or Copied Text.
- While browsing a website, PDF, or YouTube video, you can tap the share icon and select NotebookLM to add it as a new source to an existing notebook.
- Find Sources from the web by entering a search query in the prompt box.
- To start chatting with NotebookLM:
- Visit the “Chat” panel, which will display a generated summary of all your sources.
- Ask questions about your sources or give instructions to perform actions.
- Use the source selector within the prompt box to select and unselect sources.
- Chat history is retained, unless you choose to “Delete Chat History”. Learn more about chats.
- To engage more deeply with your sources, visit the “Studio” panel.
Important:
- Chat responses and artifacts, including voices, videos, flashcards, and quizzes, are AI-generated and may contain inaccuracies or audio glitches.
- NotebookLM may take a couple of minutes to generate or load artifacts.
Fast Research in App:
Provides a quick search for sources on the web, letting you immediately review and import.
- Use the prompt box on the home panel. Enter a query to search the web for relevant sources.
- Or, In a new or existing notebook, add a source. Enter a query to find sources from the web.
- Review results: The most relevant search results are presented in a list and include:
- The title
- A brief description on how the source relates to your original query
- A link to open the full webpage in a new window
- Select sources and import: Select one or multiple sources from the search results to import into your notebook.
Audio Overviews in App:
- Generate or play Audio Overviews in the “Studio” panel. To customize, you can select the pencil icon next to “audio overviews.” Choose a preferred language, adjust the length, select or unselect sources, and add prompts to tailor your audio generations. Learn more about Audio Overviews.
- When the Audio Overview is playing, you can play or pause the audio, skip forwards or backwards, or change the playback speed. You can also listen to Audio Overviews in the background by navigating to other apps or turning off your phone display.
- Select Download
to download the audio for offline access. You can find your downloaded audios in the Downloaded section on the main page of the app. You can also swipe left on an Audio Overview in the studio tab to download or delete.
- Join a conversation and interact with the AI hosts with Interactive Mode (Beta, English Only). Learn about Interactive Mode.
Flashcards and Quizzes in App:
- You can use flashcards and quizzes to memorize key terms, important dates and core concepts from your sources on the go!
- Generate or review flashcards and quizzes in the “Studio” panel. To customize, you can select the pencil icon. Choose a preferred language, adjust the number and the level of difficulty, select or unselect sources, and add prompts to tailor your generations.
- Tap on flashcards to flip them and see answers. After you finish going through your quizzes, you can review your results or retake it again.
Infographics in App
Turn complex information from your sources into a single, engaging visual summary with Infographics. Infographics are designed to help you quickly understand the main points, visualize data, or picture relationships between different concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Generate or view Infographics in the “Studio” panel, and download to save as a PNG file to your device. At this time, app generated Infographics cannot be customized and will contain concise level of detail and portrait orientation. For further options, learn more about Infographics on the Web.
Slide Decks in App
Transform your sources into a polished presentation by generating a Slide Deck, perfect for sharing or reviewing key concepts.
Generate or review Slide Decks in the “Studio” panel, and scroll to navigate between slides. At this time, app generated Slide Decks cannot be customized and will be a detailed deck format with standard length. For further options, including downloading and slideshow mode, learn more about Slide Decks on the Web.
Limited features in the NotebookLM mobile app
Tip: For the full NotebookLM experience, it's recommended you use the desktop version. If you have any feedback or feature requests, please report feedback or join our Discord.
- Only PDF, Website, YouTube, Audio, or Copied Text are supported as source types. We’ll be adding new input types over time.
- Chat configurations and chat analytics are not supported.
- Generating and viewing notes, mind maps, FAQs, study guides, timelines, or briefing documents is not yet available and may be added over time.
- You won't be able to share notebooks publicly or privately from the app.
- The “featured notebooks” tab is not available in the app yet; however, you can access featured notebooks through URLs, and they will show up on your home page.
- Audio overviews can be downloaded for offline access but cannot be downloaded as a file to your device.
- Light and dark modes are available. At this time, the color scheme will match your device settings.
- At times, syncing between devices may be delayed. If you are experiencing syncing issues, quit the mobile app and relaunch.
