Dhurandhar Movie Review and Box Office Collection Live Updates: Ranveer Singh starrer becomes second highest opener of 2025

‘Dhurandhar’ is an action-packed drama headlined by Ranveer Singh. Set against the backdrop of significant events such as the hijacking of IC-814 in 1999 and the Parliament attack in 2001, the film delves into the strategic and daring operations led by India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief, Ajay Sanyal. As tensions rise, Sanyal orchestrates a risky infiltration into Karachi’s underworld to counter the growing threat posed by terrorism.

Amid this chaos, a young boy from Punjab, who has been wrongfully held captive due to a revenge crime, is identified as a potential ally in this covert operation. The narrative explores themes of bravery, patriotism, and the sacrifices made in the face of adversity.

Complementing Singh’s powerful performance is a stellar cast that includes R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal, with Sara Ali Khan leading the female role. The film not only promises thrilling action sequences but also aims to shed light on the complex dynamics of national security and personal vengeance.

With a runtime of over three and a half hours, ‘Dhurandhar’ is set to make waves at the box office, with early predictions suggesting it could mark Ranveer Singh’s biggest opening since the pandemic.

Sholay’s mother film was Seven Samurai… or Five Man Army. Kahin na kahin se toh koi bhi film inspire hoti hai. Har cheez kahin na kahin se inspire hoti hai, lekin uska matlab yeh nahi ki uske upar bani hai yeh film. I salute Mohit Sharma for what he did, but definitely… it may be inspired from there, but it’s not based on it. Lekin main iss baare mein bolne wala kaun hoon – meri authority nahi hai. But I know this much: every story is inspired from somewhere. There’s a good saying that nothing is ‘new under the sun’. Nothing is completely new."

20 More Updates
The wait is finally over for the highly anticipated, action-packed drama ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Ranveer Singh in the lead with an ensemble cast, which is all set to hit the big screens today, December 5. The movie has been in the news since the word go, and the excitement around the movie is hitting a fever pitch.

All about ‘Dhurandhar’ run-time and CBFC’s certificate

The reports stating that ‘Dhurandhar’ shows Ranveer Singh playing Major Mohit Sharma led to a legal feud. However, CBFC answered all such concerns by clearing the movie and stating that there was no connection with Major Mohit Sharma’s life, as the film is a work of fiction.

Coming to the runtime, according to the CBFC website, ‘Dhurandhar,’ which has been given ‘A’ certificate, is 214.1 minutes (3 hours, 34 minutes, 1 second) in length. This makes it Bollywood’s longest film in 17 years since Jodhaa Akbar (2008). Also, it is Ranveer Singh’s first A-rated movie.

The board also suggested a few changes in the move. Bollywood Hungama reported that CBFC asked for a Hindi voiceover in the disclaimer. Further, the makers have been asked to put anti-drug and smoking warnings.

If we talk about the cuts, several trims were suggested for violent sequences, which led to the removal of some intense scenes in the first half and toning down of a few in the second half. Reportedly, a scene has also been muted. Another alteration made included the change in the name of a minister’s character, and additional music and end-credit scenes.

The pre-release buzz

As aforementioned, the movie created a buzz right from the word go, and the same can be seen at the ticketing window. According to trade site Sacnilk, Ranveer Singh with block seats has come closer to Rs 14 crore. Early predictions state that the movie has the potential to push the Rs 20 crore mark on its opening day. If this prediction turns out to be true, then ‘Dhurandar’ will be Ranveer Singh’s biggest opening post-pandemic.

All about ‘Dhurandhar’
