On the cheating rumours swirling online

Over the last week, the internet had been buzzing with harsh accusations, suggesting the wedding was stalled because Palash had cheated during the celebrations. Without naming anyone, he addressed these rumours head-on. He wrote, “It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life and I will deal with it gracefully holding on to my beliefs. I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip, whose sources are never identified. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”

His statement pointed to the emotional toll the online fixation has had on him, while urging people to be more responsible with what they choose to believe and share.

Legal action on the horizon

The speculation didn’t just end with gossip, according to Palash, some of it crossed into damaging territory. In his statement, he added, “While we think about these things, many people in the world are facing drastic consequences. My team will be taking strict legal action against those spreading false and defamatory content. Thank you to everyone who has stood by me with kindness in this tough time.”This marks the first time he has publicly hinted at taking legal steps, stressing that the conversation around the wedding has spiralled beyond harmless chatter.

What happened leading up to the cancelled wedding

The wedding was meant to take place on November 24 in Smriti’s hometown, Sangli, with pre-wedding celebrations beginning earlier that week. Many of Smriti’s teammates from the Indian women’s cricket team had already arrived to celebrate with the couple. But on the morning of the big day, everything came to a sudden halt.

Smriti’s manager announced that the ceremony would not go ahead, citing a medical emergency involving her father. Shortly afterwards, the Muchhal family returned to Mumbai, where Palash was also reportedly admitted to a hospital for a few days.

A difficult moment handled in the public eye

What was supposed to be a joyful milestone for two public figures unexpectedly turned into an emotional and very public ordeal. Both Palash and Smriti have now clarified that the wedding is off, and Palash’s note shows he’s choosing to navigate the heartbreak with restraint, urging people to think before spreading unverified claims.
