We had a fantastic couple of days at Resourcing Tomorrow, catching up with our network and making new connections across the UK and international spaces. A highlight was listening to Sharon Strugnell and Kate Thornton flying the flag for the Minerals Matter ambassador scheme on stage during the panel session this morning ‘ Inspiring the next generation for a sustainable mining future’. The discussion panel talked about tactics, perception and strategy when engaging the younger generation and how it should be a vital part of small and large businesses day-to-day activities, the greater the industry engage, the larger the talent pool will be. The panellists also talked about the different levels of skills and knowledge needed throughout a mine cycle and how training and appreciating talent is vital in retaining and creating an inclusive culture. It was also great to hear from a recent graduate from UCL how the message of minerals being essential to the Green transition is resonating and encouraging graduates to consider careers in the sector. Thanks to Women In Mining UK (WIM UK) for allowing us to jump in on their networking drinks with a banner and an example of the Minerals Mission activity. Also thanks to Andrew Fulton and MAUK - The Mining Association of the UK for supporting us and making introductions.
