Neighbors, let's keep our Thanksgiving festivities safe and sound! 🏠🦃 When deep frying your turkey, remember: Outdoors is the way to go. Keep a safe distance from structures and trees, and never leave your fryer unattended. The Bexar County Fire Marshal's Office is here to remind you that a safe Thanksgiving is a happy Thanksgiving. Let's enjoy our turkey without any unexpected fireworks! 🚒🍂 But wait, there's more: 🔥 Tip 1: Keep Your Distance No need to flamingle with danger! Make sure to set up your turkey fryer at least 10 feet away from your home, garage, or anything flammable and place it on level ground. Safety first, flavor second! 🏡🚫🔥 🔥 Tip 2: Size Matters When it comes to turkeys, bigger isn't always better when deep frying! Stick to a turkey that's 12 pounds or less for the best results. No need to test the limits of your fryer. Test how much oil you need by placing the turkey in the pot with water first. 🦃✨ 🔥 Tip 3: Thaw It Out Before taking the plunge, make sure your turkey is completely thawed and dry. Skip the stuffing and season the turkey well. Water and hot oil don't mix, and neither do we want you and the fire department! Lower the turkey slowly into the oil and maintain proper oil temperature.💧🔥 🔥 Tip 4: Stay Vigilant Never leave the fryer unattended and keep a fire extinguisher nearby! Keep an eye on the temperature and don't overheat the oil. You're the turkey boss here, so show that hot oil who's in charge! Oh and then be sure to wait until the oil has cooled before drinking alcohol.👀🔥
