Paramount Pictures will submit Roofman for Best Film Comedy/Musical consideration at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, Gold Derby has confirmed. The decision comes just after the charming crime caper, directed by Derek Cianfrance, debuted at No. 2 at the box office following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Blending romance, suspense, and humor, Roofman follows a charismatic criminal (Channing Tatum) who, while on the run from the police, hides inside the walls of a Toys "R" Us. There, he assumes a new identity and falls for an unsuspecting employee (Kirsten Dunst), beginning a relationship as unlikely as it is risky. Based on the unbelievable true story of Jeffrey Manchester, the film balances emotional sincerity with sharp comic energy — an approach that earned it a standing ovation at TIFF and strong word-of-mouth on the fall festival circuit.

Tatum will be submitted in the Best Film Comedy/Musical Actor category for his turn as Manchester, which recently earned him a TIFF Tribute Performer Award. Dunst, a previous Oscar and four-time Golden Globe nominee, will compete in Supporting Actress for her emotional portrayal of Leigh, whose compassion complicates the fugitive’s double life.

Cianfrance, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kirt Gunn, will be submitted for Director and Screenplay honors. The ensemble includes Peter Dinklage, Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, and Uzo Aduba, each in contention for supporting categories.

Roofman debuted in theaters on Oct. 8, earning $8.1 at the domestic box office. Reviews have been strong, with the film holding an 84 percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a "generally favorable" 64 percent on Metacritic. Golden Globe nominations will be announced Dec. 8.
