I really didn’t care for the Brook Lynn/Chase wedding. How did GH win so many Emmys for it?

I’m wondering the same thing. How did it win Writing and Directing & Drama Series with those submissions????????? Who in the hell votes???? They must be GH fans.

Yea something is definitely going on here with the voters cause this looked like a set up from the get go GH winning for a wedding it was ok but not to win best show smh

Congrats to all the wonderful surprise winners so far, especially Susan Walters, Alley Mills, Jonathan Jackson, Lisa Yamada… what a beautiful night celebrating the very best of this medium. Watching the Daytime Emmys solo for the first time without my mom (who passed recently) hits different, but I know in my heart she would’ve loved tonight’s ceremony, especially Mario Lopez (always a favorite of hers!) as host, the DAYS 60th anniversary tribute and moving “In Memoriam” segment.

I got 2 of the 3 series awards right and I got 3 of the 6 acting categories right. I think that’s the best I’ve ever done.

I correctly predicted Telfer, Jackson & Mills.

NLG was my hopediction but I promised myself I would never predict her again after she lost for that spectacular 25th anniversary ep.

Of course I disagree. I understand you wanted other shows to win, but GH has been the best of the four shows lately. Those episodes were superbly produced, written and directed. GH deserved those awards! My picks won for Series, Actor, Actress, Emerging Talent, Directing and Writing!!! I predicted 5 categories out of 9 (Series, Actress, Supporting Actor, Emerging Talent, and Directing)! (I thought Days would win for Writing for Doug’s death/funeral).

I was surprised but happy for Susan Walters but thrilled for Lisa Yamada and Paul Telfer. I was also surprised DAYS won Casting but I was happy for them.

    NLG won her 3rd Emmy.

    Jackson won his 6th Emmy!

Mills won her 2nd consecutive Emmy.

Telfer and Walters are both first time winners.

Yamada too but I think the emerging category will always be a first time winner.

I’m glad the Emmys didn’t forget about Patrick Mulcahey’s (albeit short-lived) deeply effective and poignant head writing work on GH in 2024. He is dearly missed (his scripts on B&B especially were like gifts from God and my personal chicken soup for the soul). Daytime just isn’t the same without him.

GH has the most series wins (18). Y&R is 2nd with 11 wins.

GH has the most directing wins (16). Y&R is 2nd with 13 wins.

GH is now tied for 2nd most writing wins with Ryan’s Hope & Guiding Light (6 wins). Y&R is far ahead with 10 wins.

NLG was the actress with the most lead noms without a lead win. Now that record belongs to Julia Barr. They each have two supporting wins.

NLG is only the fourth GH actress to win lead, after Hughes, Wright & West.

Telfer is the 3rd DAYS actor to win lead after Carey (twice) & Reynolds.

GH has the most supporting actor wins (15). Y&R is 2nd with 7 wins.

Y&R has the 2nd most supporting actress wins (10). GH is first with 12 wins.

GH has now won both series and supporting actor 5 years in a row.

It’s nice that we got lengthy clips of the winners but they really should have given us clips of all the nominees. The show ended early and there was a lot of presenter banter that could have been cut, so there was plenty of time.

GH won costume so I guess it doesn’t matter but they really should have submitted the Brook Lynn/Chase wedding instead of the casino scenes. Good costumes in both but a lot more costume work in the wedding.

Paul Telfer & Dan Feuerriegel looked hot. Jane Elliot & Diedre Hall looked regal. I wasn’t a fan of NLG’s look. The skirt was nice but the shirt was ill fitting and the jewelry was too much.

I was very surprised by all the Drew Barrymore wins. And nothing major for Kelly Clarkson or The View.

Interesting that both of the genderless acting categories went to women. And the emerging winner actually would have qualified for the younger category (back when it was under 25).

I hate when they don’t show clips. One of the benefits of an awards show and especially this one, is to use it for marketing the programs. Daytime needs all the help it can get and it would’ve been nice to see clips from shows you don’t watch since it could get someone to tune in.

Disappointed Jackson won for a lackluster return. Also thought Susan Haskell was a surprising choice since I’ve always found her a little shrill. I will say that there’s a consistency to winners being more on the naturalist side of acting (and has been for the past few years which is why someone like Gossett was able to win twice). Over the top stories and performances don’t always go over well out of context. This also could explain why GH won with the wedding ep. It felt more grounded and old school.

Happy Grahn got a lead win for Alexis which was well deserved. It would’ve been a difficult choice if Melody Scott Thomas was nominated but easy against the rest of the competition here.

Not surprised Y&R didn’t get writing/directing for the Sharon eps. There was a hokeyness to them and it looked kind of bad and cheap.

It will be curious what BTG will do next year. I watched the first couple weeks but had to give up because it was too over the top and DAYs-esque for me. I think that some of the performances are good, especially Tunie, but someone like Mosely was entirely too ridiculous for me to appreciate though others might.

I feel like GH has been pretty solid most of the year, and Y&R has been mostly garbage so next year could see some shifts there. I’ve also heard some positive things about B&B.

Susan Walters won supporting actress for Y&R.

Susan Haskell isn’t currently on a show and last won an Emmy for OLTL in 2009.

Oh my gosh, what a weird pull. Obviously meant Walters. No idea why Haskell came out.

I still haven’t watched the ceremony yet. I knew I wouldn’t be home when it was on, and then once I saw who all of the winners were, there’s wasn’t a whole lot of urgency or eagerness to watch. I think my predictions in the Predictions Center were much better before I went back and changed them last week! I think I had Paul Telfer, NLG, and Lisa Yamada and switched them all! OOF.

DAYS was a mess for much of last year, but I did think that Doug’s funeral episodes were the best soap episodes I saw last year and that the Sarah hit and run story (which I don’t think is what was submitted) was the best written soap story I saw last year. I would have liked to see the show do better than just the lead actor and casting wins, though I’m happy for those and thrilled for Paul Telfer. I did see a clip of his speech and found it very moving.

But congrats also to all of the winners, who obviously deserved it in some way or another. I was most shocked that Susan Walters won, but I absolutely love her, so I’m really happy for her. I was surprised by Jonathan Jackson’s win, but in retrospect, I should have known better. GH developed a reputation in the 2000s for submitting excellent reels on the series level, and they’ve really racked up the hardware to show for it. Some of those stats OLTLfan posted are kind of insane.

I do think 2025 will be a more interesting year. Beyond the Gates is in the mix and has produced some old-school, big cast spectacle episodes that could compete well in the series and directing categories and lots of great acting showcases for its talented cast. And I think DAYS has improved tremendously and been very strong this year, not just with the incredible performances surrounding John’s death and funeral (both Deidre Hall and Eric Martsolf have killer scenes in those episodes) but the show overall. Watching both shows, I would say DAYS has been steadily very strong while GH has been more a mix of thrilling and frustrating, not to say one with better than the other. One thing I really hope for the next Emmys is that they happen before October 2026!
