RESEARCH UPDATE: Three add-on studies to the U.S. POINTER trial showed measurable benefits for people who took part in the guided, two-year, multicomponent healthy lifestyle intervention. Key outcomes include: 🩸 Improved blood flow regulation to the brain 💤Reduced sleep apnea respiratory events 🧠Increased cognitive resilience among adults with Alzheimer’s-related brain changes These benefits go beyond memory and thinking. They touch areas that are known to lower the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. This means adhering to the structured U.S. POINTER program could have a multiplier effect on brain health and overall health. This truly is the most exciting time in the history of Alzheimer’s, dementia and brain health. In this season of giving, we’re reminded that the immense progress being made would not be possible without our united work and the generosity of our donors. This National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month, we're spotlighting those who held the yellow 🏵️ flower, a symbol of caring for someone with the disease, at each of our 6 Walk to End Alzheimer's events across the state this fall. In Fairfield County, Bernice Oleyar currently cares for her husband Bob, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 8 years ago. She participates to not only honor him, but all the caregivers. 🤝 Her advice to caregivers: “Take care of yourself and find a moment of joy each day. Take a short walk, read, have a second cup of coffee or tea or just sit and look out the window and breathe deeply. Remember, you are doing your best and your loved one is doing their best.” Join us in honoring Bernice and all other Alzheimer's caregivers this month at alz.org/honor. #YellowFlowerFriday #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth #ENDALZ

This National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month and National Family Caregivers Month, we're spotlighting those who held the yellow 🏵️ flower, a symbol of caring for someone with the disease, at each of our 6 Walk to End Alzheimer's events across the state this fall. In Greater Hartford, Tonya Maurer is a caregiver, care advocate and fierce warrior for change. Tonya was recently recognized as Alzheimer's Impact Movement's Advocate of the Month, and her voice was instrumental in getting Connecticut legislators to expand insurance coverage for comprehensive biomarker testing for Alzheimer’s. 📣 She says that “the yellow flower means that she has planted the seeds of hope, joy, love and comfort for her mom living well with Alzheimer’s after being diagnosed 8 years ago. It means that we have worked together to plant seeds of hope for those on this very unique and often scary journey. The yellow flower is a beacon of a brighter future ahead." Join us in honoring Tonya and all other Alzheimer's caregivers this month at alz.org/honor. #YellowFlowerFriday (on a Tuesday!) #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth #ENDALZ
