The KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is officially open, expanding Kansas City’s free-fare, zero-emission transit system 3.5 miles south to the University of Missouri-Kansas City! https://lnkd.in/gkzkYWb4 Benesch played a key role in bringing the project to life, leading coordination among multiple agencies and stakeholders during the engineering design phase and later providing construction management and quality oversight. Congratulations to the Copper Creek Interceptor Relocation project team for earning the APWA Nebraska Chapter Project of the Year Award in the Environmental Category! https://lnkd.in/gXCHhCnD This critical infrastructure project was recognized for transforming an at-risk wastewater interceptor carrying 35 million gallons of flow daily into a flood-resistant system with extended service life. Our employees’ passion for their work goes beyond the workplace and Project Engineer Craig Pezak, P.G., P.E. is the perfect example! After earning his Master of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Craig returned to his alma mater to teach the same geomechanics course he was once enrolled in. Craig currently serves as an adjunct instructor teaching graduate-level geomechanics and is an advisor for a student’s graduate Capstone paper. The Blue Mesa Bridge Emergency Repairs project earned the APWA Colorado Chapter Award for Disaster or Emergency Construction, Repair or Response in the Large Project category! https://lnkd.in/ggVtaAS3 When a critical weld defect forced the closure of this major east-west corridor over the Blue Mesa Reservoir, Benesch stepped in to perform inspections and support emergency repair efforts. Through close coordination and quick action, the team restored a key route for travelers across central Colorado.
