Creating a world where farmers use technology and data to build prosperous communities.

About us

Digital Green is a global development organization working to create a world where farmers use technology and data to build prosperous communities. We join forces with governments, private agencies and, most importantly, rural communities themselves to co-create digital solutions that are of the community and for the community. When farmers have the tools they need to connect with one another, they’re far more likely to apply what they’ve learned on their farms and in their households – improving their own livelihoods and those of others in their community in a manner that’s nutrition-sensitive, climate-resilient, and inclusive.

  • Across India, digital tools are giving farmers the confidence and clarity they need to make better decisions, season after season. For Saraswati Munda, this support has become a steady source of guidance. Through FarmerChat, she received timely suggestions on managing mango trees during the flowering stage—helping her curb flower drop and strengthen fruit growth. Timely recommendations helped her manage mango trees during flowering—reducing flower drop and boosting fruit development. Inspired, she tried organic ginger cultivation using stage-specific guidance and is now seeing a thriving crop with better yield potential. Today, she regularly turns to FarmerChat as a trusted partner across her crops, vegetables, and livestock. ⬇️ Help more such women farmers grow by donating today. • We’re excited to share that our CEO, @Rikin Gandhi, joined an engaging panel at @FIRA - World Ag Robotics Forum where leaders in agtech came together to discuss how AI, robotics, and automation can make farming more efficient, resilient, and inclusive. The panel dug into practical opportunities as well as the importance of designing solutions that work for all farmers. Held in Woodland, CA, FIRA USA brings together experts and innovators who are shaping the next wave of agricultural robotics and automation. It’s an important space for exchanging ideas, aligning on shared challenges, and imagining what the future of farming could look like. We are thankful for the thoughtful discussion and the chance to contribute to a broader conversation about farmer-centered innovation. • When done right, AI can transform food production. With reliable connectivity, clear rules on data use, and services that reach women and young farmers, AI can help farmers cut input costs, protect crops from climate shocks, and ease day-to-day tasks. The new report by The World Bank Group highlights exactly this potential, and we’re honored that Digital Green’s work is featured among the examples driving meaningful change on the ground. As global conversations around AI gain momentum, we’re excited to continue sharing what we’re learning from the field and working with partners to scale approaches that put farmers—especially women and youth—at the center of agricultural transformation. 📄 Follow the link in the comments to read the full report. #DigitalGreen #WorldBank #AIforGood #AIinAgriculture

  • Project Gecko is steadily moving from concept to impact. With Microsoft Research’s new technical focus on MMCTAgent, we’re seeing AI begin to engage with the kinds of content farmers trust most — community-made videos, real voices from the field, and practical demonstrations delivered in local languages. We’re proud to contribute resources and learnings from the field as this work advances. 🎥 Watch the presentation: https://lnkd.in/dAHfP6SA 📝 Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/dsX7nDv7 #DigitalGreen #Microsoft #AIforGood #FarmerChat #AgTech #AIinAgriculture

  • At just 26, Edwin Kipkemei from Nandi County is redefining what it means to be a modern farmer. 🌱 With curiosity, persistence, and a drive to learn, he transformed his family’s banana orchard and built his own thriving poultry project, all while pursuing a diploma in ICT. Edwin’s story is a reminder that when youth have access to the right knowledge, they can transform not just their farms, but their communities too. 💛 ⬇️ You can help more farmers like Edwin innovate and grow. • Recently, our Ethiopian teams came together in Bishoftu for the 2025 Annual Planning & Learning Workshop, a dedicated space to look back on what we’ve achieved and align on where we’re headed next. Regional teams shared progress, insights, and lessons from the field, giving us a clear picture of the impact we’re driving across Ethiopia. We also celebrated key milestones, including reaching 100,000 FarmerChat users in Ethiopia, and highlighted one of the year’s proudest moments: Digital Green’s recognition at the 32nd GO-CSO Forum in Jimma, where we ranked 3rd among 16 international CSOs for the quality of our engagement, impact, and performance. The workshop closed with team-bonding activities that strengthened collaboration and reminded us of the people behind the work. With fresh alignment and renewed energy, we’re stepping confidently into FY27, ready to build on our progress and aim even higher.
