Granite Construction has been selected by the Tahoe City Public Utility District (TCPUD) for the approximately $3 million preconstruction phase of the Tahoe Cedars Water Reconstruction Project, marking Granite’s first progressive design-build (PDB) contract in California. DOWL will serve as the designer-of-record. Located in Tahoma, California, along the west shore of Lake Tahoe, the project will upgrade water infrastructure originally built in the 1940s — enhancing service reliability, fire protection, and system capacity for the Tahoe Cedars community. 💬 Chris Burke, Granite Vice President of Regional Operations: “Our team is honored to be awarded the Tahoe Cedars PDB project and excited to deliver the first PDB project for Granite in California. DOWL is headed to Long Beach for Geo-Extreme 2025! Jeremiah Holland, P.E. and Robert Sanders are presenting their paper Geotechnical Engineering Case Studies in Western Alaska on Warming Permafrost in a technical session on Monday, November 3. Their paper covers some of the geotechnical engineering challenges on foundations and ground improvements in areas with warming or thawed permafrost due to the warming climatic conditions.
