  • In Southern California, winter is real enough to feel—but not enough to stop the work. Harvest here is often a mindset, not a moment. With fields still turning year-round, reflection takes intention. So does gratitude: for farmers and ranchers who stay close to the seasons, and for the climates that give us pixies from cold nights, corn from long hot summers, and fresh greens worth savoring right away. Holding deep thanks for the hands that keep feeding communities near and far—every month of the year. 🌱 Read our full post on Gratitude: https://lnkd.in/gNtFKMu4

  • Thank you Andrew Watman for writing this beautiful piece. You really captured the feeling of Tractor Beverage Co. and Farmhand! Cheers to you and to the soil + soul that unites us all!

You may have had a Tractor Beverage Co. drink when dining at Chipotle, but the brand is about to enter an entirely new chapter.... Launching Jan 1 - Tractor's brand new haymakers will be in all Sprouts Farmers Market locations - partnering with the expanding natural grocer for a three-month educational endcap promotion so that customers can learn about the beauty of the haymaker - the farmer's tonic blessed with ACV and ginger - and the mission behind Tractor. Cofounders Griffin Barkley and Justin Schneir have farming in their blood and were always out on a mission to launch haymaker, but took the opposite route of entering food service for the first decade, including its fundamental partnership with Chipotle - but now feel ready, at the helm of CEO Kevin Sherman, "the reluctant CEO" who comes to Tractor after years in education - to make the Tractor brand more visible - which in turn will help support farmers and encourage organic farming for our soil and our soul. Calling Tractor a beverage company is the tip of the iceberg. Tractor is really embodied in the nonprofit it created, The Farmhand Foundation - lead by Whitney Clapper. Whitney is in the midst of a listening tour with farmers to understand what they need. Instead of pointing the finger, she grabs a coffee with them and drops any and all judgement. It was an honor spending time with the Tractor team at their Farm Camp in Ojai last month, where we connected deep with the earth and each other, really immersing myself to better understand what Tractor stands for. Many thanks to Sprouts' Chief Forager Kim Coffin to the insights on this special partnership - Duke Stump - for being the first person to greet me at Farm Aid 40 in Minneapolis where the haymaker made its entrance into the world - and to Chrystie Heimert - for being a comforting presence in this journey of connecting to Tractor and the spiritual haymaker. • The Land Remembers What We May Forget In our first real year of operating in Ojai, we thought we were just here to listen to farmers. Turns out, the land had/has stories to tell too. Every tree line, furrow, and ground squirrel den held echoes—of effort, of care, of conflict. Listening closely, we realized: the soil stores just as much history as any human voice. So we asked ourselves: How do you honor land as both witness and teacher? “The Seeds of Story” – a piece shaped by the whispers of farmers and the wisdom of earth. A big thanks to our friend Alexis for pulling this piece together. We hope you enjoy it! https://lnkd.in/g82dHjmq

When the sun beat down and the work ran long, a simple, eclectic mixture was drawn from the land. A splash of apple cider vinegar from the cellar, ginger root pulled from the garden, a squeeze of citrus. Stirred into water, shared in the shade, passed from hand to hand. They called it Haymaker and it was never quite the same. Bright, bracing, a simple lift to carry you through. We’ve carried that tradition forward. An organic nod to heritage with a wink of sparkle and a thoughtful touch. Made with care, curiosity, and the kind of honesty that never goes out of style. Meet Haymaker, our newest product. A revival with a story — consciously crafted, certified organic, and delightfully unexpected.

  • "Change begins when we're truly heard." - Luke Peterson At The Farmhand Foundation we believe that farmers are more than producers. They're keepers: of soil, of seed, of memory. They carry with them what most of us have forgotten: how to live in rhythm with a place. Our work is to back them, like any good farmhand. To be useful. To pull our weight. To show up early and to stay late. To offer a reliable hand in a world that often forgets who keeps it happy and fed. We don't pretend the work is easy. And we know it's essential. So we listen, listen, listen, and in so doing, we learn. Thank you, Tractor Beverage Co. for bringing us along to Farm Aid this year! After some time in Minnesota, visiting farms and connecting with many rad nonprofits and musicians, we are soaring in hope and more excited than ever to dig back in to our work here in Ventura County, backing the hands that feed. Another hearty thanks to Tom Chapman at Organic Trade Association for hosting this incredible breakfast. To The Cornucopia Institute for showing up and being the powerful leaders that you are, and to the women farmers at University of Minnesota - keep going! You are our future growers of good, nutrient dense, healthy food - the world clearly needs you.

“As Farm Aid marks forty years of standing with family farmers, Tractor is honored to join in that legacy,” said Kevin Sherman, CEO of Tractor Beverage Company. “For us, this work is bigger than beverages—it’s about protecting soil, supporting farmers, and shaping a food system that can thrive for generations to come.” Our weekend at Farm Aid 40 began with a Farm Bill to Table Breakfast to explore how the Farm Bill shapes the future of food. We were joined by leaders from The Cornucopia Institute, Organic Trade Association, The Farmhand Foundation, faculty and students from the University of Minnesota Student Organic Farm, as well as local Minnesota regenerative farmer, Luke Peterson, for a roundtable conversation that left us feeling more inspired than ever to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people who grow our food. “Too often farmers’ voices get left out of the Farm Bill conversation,” Luke Peterson shared. “Sitting at the table with advocates and policymakers reminded me that change begins when we’re truly heard.”

  • The future of food isn’t built in boardrooms—it’s built in fields and occasionally on the dance floor! Right now, the regenerative food system needs more than ideas. It needs People. Communities. Movements. As Shorlette Ammons, Co-Executive Director of Farm Aid, puts it: “There is no farm movement without the people. Rural communities represent the heartbeat of this country. Farmers and rural and immigrant labor sustain our food system, care for the land, and strengthen our food ways and cultural connections.” So this week, we’re heading to Farm Aid with our friends at Tractor Beverage Co. because change this big doesn’t come from one brand or one farmer—it comes when we stand (or dance) shoulder-to-shoulder. So hang onto your boots, Minneapolis. We’re coming together to honor the land, the people, and the future of food. Holler if you'll be there and come find us at HOMEGROWN Village!
