Joining GCA strengthens our ability to advance that mission at a moment when collaboration across movements is essential. For our community, this alliance opens new pathways to: 🔹 Bridge scientific, policy, and community voices across sectors and disciplines 🔹 Connect the Planetary Health movement with global efforts to safeguard and restore Earth’s life-support systems 🔹 Amplify the work of our members through shared learning, joint initiatives, and coordinated action 🔹 Ensure planetary health perspectives inform global governance and systems-change efforts. Supported by a Secretariat, members will access benefits that can elevate collective impact. The Alliance: 💡 Synchronizes knowledge by facilitating shared analysis and strategies that harness collective wisdom. 💥 Amplifies impact by coordinating insights and cross-sector initiatives. 🤝 Convenes, establishing trust and collaboration that can accelerate the wider movement. 🌍 Optimizes mutual and collective potential by empowering members to contribute unique expertise toward a shared mission. 🌍 Resilience for a changing planet 🌎 Albert Norström, science director at the Commission, was speaking about the Resilience Science Must-Knows report when he was quoted in Forbes on what resilience really means: “Resilience is often misunderstood as simply returning to the status quo after a shock. But in today’s world, the status quo is often part of the problem." He added: “Leaders can no longer plan for stability alone; they must plan for uncertainty. That means investing in systems that can cope, adapt, and transform, and not just withstand shocks but evolve through them.” 🌱 At the Earth Commission, this is at the heart of our work. Many of the systems we rely on today - energy, food, water, and others - are driving planetary risks. Resilience isn’t about returning to old ways; it’s about adapting, transforming, and building systems that thrive under change, helping societies and ecosystems navigate uncertainty and flourish.

🆕 The Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) today announced the first cohort of companies joining the Step Up for Nature initiative. By stepping up for nature, these companies are collectively signaling their intent to take science-based action on nature in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework 🌍 ✅ Each company has shared their next milestone toward science-based targets for nature, and the timeline on which they plan to submit their work for independent validation by the Accountability Accelerator. 📢 These intended milestones are published on SBTN’s new Ambition Board, providing transparency on companies’ direction of travel. The early movers are part of a broader pipeline of more than 150 companies preparing to set targets through SBTN and follow in the footsteps of the first companies that already have validated freshwater and land targets.
