At Wake Forest University, Pitsgiving doesn’t end when the celebration does. Through Pitsgiving Keeps Giving, an annual initiative led by Deacon Dining Sustainability Coordinator Quin, leftover dishes from the main event are thoughtfully repurposed into new creations a few days later, ensuring every bite continues to make an impact. Any remaining food is then donated to Campus Kitchen, supporting the wider community and keeping good food out of the landfill. At Clark University, guests enjoyed handcrafted mocktails in place of traditional cocktails, offering a fresh take on celebration that still felt special. At Springfield College, the Friendsgiving menu featured plant-forward and vegan options that were just as comforting and satisfying. Allergen awareness took center stage at Clark University last month through a campus-wide Teal Takeover, inspired by FARE's Teal Pumpkin Project. Through creative, student-centered programming from the Harvest Table team, Clark University students had the chance to learn about allergen awareness while connecting over food and fun. The week included three interactive experiences: a Fall Into Wellbeing Fair pop-up with samples of top-9-free banana bread pudding, a Teal Takeover in The Table at Higgins where teal pans highlighted dishes free of the top 9 allergens throughout the dining hall, and a campus-wide teal pumpkin hunt that raised awareness of the 170 known food allergens. Seventeen pumpkins, each representing 10 allergens, were hidden across campus, and participants who submitted the total number they found were entered to win a gift basket. These initiatives reflect our commitment to culinary inclusivity and the belief that every student deserves a safe, welcoming, and delicious dining experience.
