Join Humble ISD for a free, family-friendly Veterans Day event starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 25 at the Atascocita High School football field. Students and adults are invited to come on the field for fun and challenging combat fitness activities led by our JROTC. Bleacher seating is available for families who want to cheer them on. It’s a great way to honor veterans, get moving, and enjoy a morning of community fun. The event will feature performances by the Kingwood High School Fillies Dance Team and the Atascocita High School Military Marching Band. The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program is an elective offered to students in grades 9-12 and the purpose of this program is to instill the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. Humble ISD has five JROTC programs across the district representing the United States Air Force, United States Army, United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. This year we have a shirt that not only supports awareness of our JROTC Programs, but proceeds from the sale of these shirts will go to support students in our Mosaic program—an Humble ISD initiative serving 18-22 year-olds who qualify for special education services after high school.
