One of our long-term partners, the Housing Authority of Washington County (HAWC), recently celebrated the completion of an extensive multi-year renovation project across 10 affordable housing properties at Holly Tree Village, one of HAWC’s largest affordable housing communities. Spanning the six different communities of Aloha, Beaverton, Cornelius, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, and Tigard, 592 apartment homes, some built as early as 1974, have been modernized as part of the Affordable Housing Preservation Portfolio Rehabilitation project. Brawner is proud to be the development consultant for this project in partnership with LMC Construction, Pinnacle Architecture, and Ink Built. Crucial funding for this project included issuance of tax-exempt bonds and significant sponsor financing by HAWC, construction and permanent loans from J.P. Morgan, federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits via Oregon Housing & Community Services (OHCS), and LIHTC equity investments from RBC. #affordablehousing #development #construction #HAWC

Brawner is grateful to partner again with the Housing Authority of Washington County (HAWC) to close on $46.5 million of tax exempt bonds to help refinance the renovation of Woodspring Apartments in Tigard, OR. Construction began last week, and the official ground-breaking will be on October 16th! Without HAWC’s acquisition and preservation of Woodspring, all 172 units would have converted to market rate housing. Now, the project remains affordable to households earning up to 80% of area median income for another 30 years to help working families. A special thanks to Banner Bank as the construction lender and RBC Community Investments as the low income housing tax credit investor, Oregon Housing & Community Services (OHCS) and Washington County as public funders, and Walsh Construction Co. and MMR Architects as design builder in this preservation and renovation project. #affordablehousing #development #construction #HAWC

The flagship YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish affordable housing project is receiving a State Historic Preservation Officer’s Award for the Outstanding Rehabilitation of the Fifth & Seneca Building in Downtown Seattle! This project is being recognized by the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation because it demonstrates how historic buildings can be successfully upgraded for seismic resistance and retrofitted for affordable housing, all while retaining their historic character.
