About us
Established in 1905, Jordan School District opened its doors with 3,000 students, 70 teachers and 20 community schools. Located in the southwest area of Salt Lake County, Jordan School District is one of Utah’s fastest growing school systems. It provides public education today for 57,000 students living in Bluffdale, Copperton, Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan and West Jordan who attend our 68 schools. Our motto, Lead, Educate, Inspire reflects who we are and what we are about. As our next chapter unfolds, our founding principle of providing a quality education and promoting lifelong learning will guide our future. Jordan School District will continue to lead the way in research-based curriculum and strategies. We believe education must be relevant and responsive to the ever-changing world. How we educate our students is perhaps our greatest accomplishment. Quality teaching promotes quality learning. That is evident in our students who continually outperform their counterparts across the nation on standardized tests. We inspire future generations one student at a time. Our strength lies in the hearts and talents of our employees. The teachers, support staff and administrators have developed a synergy that has fueled Jordan’s legacy of serving and educating students for more than a century. As students leave our system we hope they are inspired to continue learning for a lifetime. Jordan School District is considered a state leader in public education. Our dedicated teachers, staff and administrators serve on many statewide committees and work groups to improve the quality of education for all Utah students. We earnestly strive to strengthen partnerships with businesses, increase our ability to integrate more vocational and technical choices into education, and provide world-class development options for students and staff.

Have you listened to the Jordan School District Supercast? If not, you have been missing out on stories about the good things happening in education and the amazing people working for Jordan School District, like our very own Alexa Byrd, Kindergarten teacher at Columbia Elementary. We met Alexa two years ago while recruiting at the Utah Tech University's Teaching Hiring Event. We were blown away by this intelligent, gregarious, and compassionate candidate who did not shy away from asking the question about whether her story would reasonate in Jordan. When she was offered and accepted a position with Keith Klein and his amazing team at Columbia we knew it was going to be a great year at Columbia. At her onboarding, another new hire for Kindergarten at Columbia was onboarding as well. They immediately began chatting and the excitement grew and grew. Alexa supported our media coverage at New Educator Induction for the 2024-2025 school year and was featured in the City Journal. Alexa is one of those people when you meet them you are never the same. Much like Taylor Swift saying Travis Kelce is a human exclamation point-we feel the same about Alexa. She is the embodiment of being a human exclamation point. This podcast episode highlights how she embraces the motto of, "why are you trying to fit in, when you are born to stand out." Take a listen, but be forewarned you might cry. https://lnkd.in/gwKmAnq9. #humanexclamationpoint #educationstories #jordanschooldistrict #whatisyourwhy #weloveteachers

Every teacher who joins a District has a reason. Share your District and your reason with us in the comments. We would love to hear your story. What are the things that make your District or any District stand out?
This girl! I have not stopped thinking about our New Educator Induction and making sure I made the time to ensure this photo happened. When I first met Keely Bullock she was coming to our office to onboard as a student teacher. She was mature with a disposition that immediately let me know she wasn't influenced by the temperature of a room-she set it. She told me and others she was going to leave the cold and head to South Carolina. I joked with her....'Keely, you are going to fall in love with us.' my coworkers and I watched her applications and we did a happy dance when she was offered a position and accepted. When asked who would be a great interview who could articulate why they chose Jordan-Keely came to mind. She knocked that interview out of the park. Education professionals like Keely is why I love recruiting for Jordan School District. Daybreak Elementary 6th grade is going to have a great year! Pro Tip: Never underestimate the effect of the people who speak your name when you aren't in the room. It might shock you the number of people who celebrate you when you aren't even there. Your network is far larger than you think it is.
