If you’re involved in medical billing, this is important news. Effective October 1, 2025, 487 new ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes (as well as 28 deletions and 38 revisions) went into effect; and effective January 1, 2026, there will be 288 new CPT procedure codes (as well as 84 deletions and 46 revisions). Why is this important? Because incorrect coding is the major reason why your claims are rejected. If you want your claims honored, you might want to take heed of this news. Our new blog lists the major changes to significant codes and gives you advice how to prepare. Both physicians and coders should be made fully aware of the ramifications of these changes. (Interestingly enough, proprietary lab analyses account for 27% of the new codes—a plurality.)
