It's Monday, and we're excited to start the week with our next Mendaera Team Spotlight, shining on the 🔦 Hardware Engineering 🔦 team. This team designs and optimizes every physical element of the Focalist™ system — robot, cart, and consumables — each with its own unique requirements that draw on a wide range of skillsets and backgrounds. They’re proud to have engineered a robotic arm that delivers sub-millimeter accuracy at under 250 grams and to have helped bring one of the first handheld medical robots to market. And while they joke about being “boring engineers,” their team outings and personalities tell a different story — from curling nights and bingo at Jimmy’s in MN to a culture shaped by teammates who began their careers at Mendaera, others who had worked together before joining, and even an unofficial “Chief Vibes Officer.” Most importantly, this team loves working and growing together, sharing both engineering challenges and the personal stories that come with a team whose hobbies span everything from building bikes and BattleBots to skiing, camping, sailing and parenting. M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center recently began using Mendaera's Focalist handheld robotic system to enable precise, reproducible, ultrasound-guided percutaneous access during kidney stone procedures—one of the most common and painful conditions in urology. Mendaera CEO Josh DeFonzo joined other innovators yesterday at the Mayo Clinic Department of Surgery's Beahrs Surgical Innovation Summit  to discuss Integrating Technologies into Image-guided Robotic Surgery. Thanks to Mayo Clinic and the event organizers and steering committee for bringing innovative minds together to push healthcare forward.
