The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research reposted this
I’m still feeling energized after The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research’s Fall Research Roundtable. The event gave us space to connect more closely with our community and offered a powerful snapshot of where the Parkinson’s field stands today — and where it’s headed. We were honored to recognize Professor Bas Bloem as the 2025 recipient of the Robert A. Pritzker Prize for Leadership in Parkinson’s Research. His work has redefined what high-quality, patient-centered Parkinson’s care looks like, and his scientific contributions continue to shape global standards. Congratulations to Bas on this well-deserved achievement. As MJFF marks 25 years, the momentum across Parkinson’s research feels stronger than ever. We shared updates on a rapidly growing treatment pipeline, new insights into lifestyle and non-pharmacological interventions, and the important policy work underway to ensure government action matches the urgency of the moment. What inspires me most is that none of this happens in isolation. It’s driven by a community that shows up with purpose, generosity and an unwavering belief that we can end Parkinson’s disease for good. We are entering a period of unprecedented possibility in Parkinson’s research, and MJFF is fully focused on turning that possibility into real change for people and families living with the disease. Congratulations again to Professor Bloem, and thank you to all who joined us. Your partnership continues to drive this work forward with purpose and impact. MJFF is now officially a charity option on Twitch’s fundraising tool, enabling streamers worldwide to raise funds for Parkinson’s research through live content. Our team was proud to represent at the 10th annual TwitchCon, underscoring our commitment to innovation in fundraising and creating new ways for supporters to rally behind our mission to find a cure for Parkinson’s.

Last night, friends and supporters joined us in New York City for our annual “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson's” Gala. Hosted by Denis Leary, with unforgettable performances by Jackson Browne, Nikki Glaser, Jon Stewart and Colin Quinn, it was a night of laughter, music and shared purpose to speed a cure for Parkinson’s. Thanks to our incredible community, the event raised over $4 million to power that mission. #FoxGala

The Keystone State has unlocked $5 million in new funding for neurodegenerative disease research. On November 12, 2025, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed the state’s annual budget, which also includes the authorization for the creation of the Neurodegenerative Disease Research Program, that will be operated by the state's Department of Health. The $5 million will be used to fund research grants to support scientists driving critical discoveries at academic clinical medical centers across the state. This effort was spearheaded in the state legislature by Representative Kyle Mullins, who partnered with Representative Bryan Cutler to lead a bipartisan effort to officially secure the funding as part of the state’s $50.1 billion budget.
