This week, we proudly celebrated a ribbon-cutting for two new patient care units at NCH North Hospital, expanding access to high-quality care for our community. 🏥 1 North Medical-Surgical Unit This fully renovated 18-bed unit features all private rooms and will care for a wide range of patients, from general medical and surgical needs to cardiac care. As the sister unit to 3 West, 1 North will also support overflow from our Post-Angioplasty Unit, ensuring seamless, safe, and patient-centered care. ❤️ Post-Angioplasty Nursing Unit We’re also excited to introduce our dedicated 10-bed Post-Angioplasty Unit, designed for advanced cardiac recovery. Staffed by cardiovascular nurses and equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring technology, this unit offers compassionate, specialized care for patients following cardiovascular procedures. These new spaces strengthen our growing cardiology footprint and reflect our commitment to delivering exceptional care close to home.

This week, the NCH Baker Emergency Department held a special cake celebration to recognize NCH Baker Hospital for achieving the ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation! Just one year ago, our Baker campus formed a dynamic team of experts, led by Quality Nurse Specialist Traci Corsones, MSN, RN, to begin a rigorous application process. Together, they developed and streamlined evidence-based cardiac protocols, enhanced care coordination, and ultimately improved outcomes for community members experiencing cardiac events.

NCH Volunteer of the Year and NICU volunteer, Shelia Smith Davis, is celebrating her birthday in the most meaningful way, by donating Nothing Bundt Cakes for the children and team in our Pediatric Unit and Pediatric ER.  She also generously donated two beautiful interactive Christmas trees for our pediatric patients to enjoy in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit, the Pediatrics Department, and the Pediatric Emergency Room, adding even more warmth and joy to the spaces our pediatric patients and their families visit each day. Her thoughtful generosity is a heartfelt reminder of the impact one person can make, and a beautiful way to honor the incredible team that cares for our children every day.
