ALERT: USCIS Reduces Maximum Validity Periods for Certain Employment Authorization Documents On December 4, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued a Policy Alert reducing the maximum validity period of employment authorization documents for certain immigration categories. As of December 5, 2025, the maximum validity period for initial and renewal EADs will change from five (5) years to 18 months for foreign nationals in a specific set of immigration categories. ALERT: Trump Administration Pauses Immigration Applications from 19 Countries Previously Subject to June 2025 Travel Ban On December 2, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued updated guidance effectively suspending the processing of immigration benefits for citizens of 19 countries subject to the June 4, 2025 Presidential Proclamation, “Restricting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats.” Effective immediately, USCIS will consider relevant, country-specific facts and circumstances as part of its adjudication of discretionary benefit requests, such as adjustment of status applications, extensions of stay, change of status requests, naturalization applications and asylum applications. Our presenters, Marla Greenberg (M&T Bank), Sarah L.
