  • This season invites us to pause and appreciate the moments—and the people—who carry us forward. At Ports America, our strength lives in the rhythm of One Team, each role essential, each effort reaching far beyond our terminals. Every piece of cargo moved, every vessel served, every challenge met together becomes part of a larger story—one that connects communities and keeps the world in motion. As Thanksgiving arrives, we share our gratitude for the dedication and care shown each day. May this time offer peace, connection, and a reminder of the impact we create together. #OnePortsAmerica

  • As we continue honoring the veterans who strengthen Ports America, today we highlight our Bayport Container Terminal Director of Operations, Scott Bowman, MBA, whose story is deeply rooted in a legacy of service, leadership, and family tradition. Scott comes from a long line of military service. In his family, joining the military has always been a tradition — something expected, whether before or after college. The men in his family’s paternal lineage have served this country, a legacy that traces all the way back to Jesse Bowman, who fought and died in the Battle of the Alamo as part of the Texas Army. Carrying that legacy forward, Scott proudly served four years in the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Analyst. Two values that define Scott’s journey from the military to Ports America are partnership and integrity. Much like the Army, port operations run in a fast-paced environment where teamwork and trust are essential. Scott emphasizes that you have to rely on one another to get the job done safely and efficiently — whether in the field or on the terminal. During his time in uniform, Scott often faced high-stress situations that required critical, split-second decisions to complete the mission. That training helped shape him into the leader he is today. In his role as Director of Operations, Scott draws on that experience to navigate the high-pressure demands of port operations, making timely, well-informed decisions and leading from the front. We are proud to recognize Scott and all the veterans whose service, past and present, continues to make a lasting impact. #OneTeam #OnePortsAmerica #VeteransTribute

  • Grateful to our bipartisan Congressional delegation for taking the time to see the critical work happening on the ground and to hear directly from industry leaders about what’s needed to strengthen U.S. maritime competitiveness. Partnerships like these are essential as we work together to build a more resilient supply chain, support American jobs, and advance the future of our nation’s ports. #MaritimeExcellence

We were honored to host a bipartisan Congressional delegation at the Port of Baltimore’s Seagirt Marine Terminal for an in-depth tour and policy briefing with Ports America Chesapeake. We extend our deepest appreciation to Ranking Member Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA-2), Ranking Member Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA-24), Rep. Nick Begich (R-AK-At Large), and Rep. Sarah Elfreth (D-MD-3) for spending the afternoon on the terminal, seeing firsthand how America’s marine terminal operators keep our supply chain moving. Our discussions focused on strengthening U.S. competitiveness, rebuilding the domestic maritime industrial base, and ensuring long-term supply chain resilience. During the tour, we had the opportunity to outline NAWE’s top federal priorities—including modernizing the Capital Construction Fund, establishing a Maritime Trust Fund, and building a stronger foundation for U.S. maritime manufacturing. We’re grateful to our industry leaders who joined the briefing, Matthew Leech, Mark Schmidt, Kerry Doyle and Texas Howard IV. Their insights on infrastructure investment, terminal operations, breakbulk competitiveness, and opportunities to revitalize U.S. shipbuilding and maritime equipment manufacturing were invaluable. NAWE appreciates the continued engagement from Members of Congress as we work together to advance policies that support a resilient supply chain, strong national security, and globally competitive U.S. ports. • Ports America is seeing an uptick in fraudulent attempts by individuals posing as our recruiters—most commonly through email and on LinkedIn. These impersonators may offer fake interviews, send counterfeit checks, or request personal and financial information. Unfortunately, this type of activity is affecting companies across many industries, and we want to make sure jobseekers feel informed and protected. If you’re exploring opportunities with Ports America, please take a moment to review how to spot legitimate communication from our team. See our official notice here: https://lnkd.in/eFkWP9m6

  • Ports America proudly honors our veterans — individuals whose leadership, discipline, and commitment continue to strengthen our teams across the nation. Today, we’re proud to spotlight Tyler Baker, a former National Guard member who dedicated ten years to active service before transitioning into a career in port operations. During his decade of service, Tyler held a range of critical roles — from Cavalry and Military Intelligence to Combat Engineering. He later joined CERF-P, an elite emergency response force supporting FEMA during major disasters, including the Waco, Texas plant explosion. His adaptability in the National Guard meant frequently shifting specialties, gaining diverse technical and leadership skills, and training others to prepare for the unexpected. With extensive experience in large-scale natural disaster response, he trained teams across multiple states in disaster readiness and was even called back years later for expert consultation — a testament to his expertise and impact. Since joining Ports America in 2018, Tyler has found a familiar sense of structure and purpose. Rising through the ranks, he now plays a key role in managing operations at the Port of New Orleans. Tyler credits his military background for shaping his leadership philosophy — one built on empowerment, accountability, and continuous learning. As he explains, “You earn respect by empowering people. Never let your team be afraid to make decisions. Be their sounding board.” #OneTeam #OnePortsAmerica #VeteransTribute

  • https://lnkd.in/dBuP6uPc At the Port of New Orleans State of the Port on November 14, leaders from Port NOLA, the Port Commission, and Ports America highlighted the Louisiana International Terminal as a critical project for the region’s future — one that now awaits final approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before construction can begin. The Louisiana International Terminal in St. Bernard Parish represents a major step toward reinforcing New Orleans as a competitive hub for global trade and building sustainable infrastructure to support long-term growth along the Mississippi River. Upon approval, this transformative project is ready to break ground, expand cargo capacity, help Louisiana attract new trade opportunities, create jobs, and deliver the reliable container service that local industries and communities depend on. #MaritimeExcellence

  • This post marks the first feature in this month's Veterans Tribute Series, honoring the men and women who have served our country and continue to make a lasting impact across our organization. Today, we’re proud to highlight our Cybersecurity Manager, Lenny Bugarin, a United States Marine Corps veteran whose journey from military service to cybersecurity reflects the shared values of discipline, teamwork, and commitment to mission success. After losing his father while still in high school, he felt a deep sense of responsibility as the eldest sibling — to care for his mother and younger sisters while also building a strong foundation for his future career. The Marine Corps gave him that opportunity and the chance to be part of something greater than himself. He went on to serve just over four years as an Infantry Mortarman, a demanding role that required precision, coordination, and trust in high-pressure environments. “There’s a lot of overlap between the Marine Corps and my role in cybersecurity. Both depend on structure, discipline, and situational awareness — but most importantly, they rely on teamwork. In the Marines, my role meant constant coordination with other units for support, logistics, and communication. Nothing happened without everyone working together.” Today, as he manages Ports America's cybersecurity, he brings that same collaborative mindset to protecting our systems and people. “Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility — every department and every person plays a role in keeping us secure. We always say ‘cybersecurity is everyone’s job,’ and that’s absolutely true. Just like in the Marine Corps, success comes from trust, collaboration, and everyone moving together toward the same goal.” Lenny's approach to cybersecurity is built on the same core principles that guided him as a Marine: structure, discipline, and teamwork ensure that every challenge is met with precision and a mission-focused mindset. "My time in the Marine Corps shaped how I approach challenges and work with others. We were trained to adapt quickly, communicate clearly, and operate effectively under pressure while staying focused on the mission. Those experiences built discipline, mental toughness, and a strong sense of teamwork — traits that carry directly into cybersecurity. The pace can get intense, but those same principles of coordination, trust, and staying mission-focused help my team perform and deliver no matter what comes our way." At Ports America, we’re proud to work alongside veterans who embody dedication, teamwork, and purpose — values that strengthen our organization every day. #OneTeam #OnePortsAmerica #VeteransDay
