🧱 At Queens Carbon, we prioritize the #voiceofthecustomer. Every step of our journey is guided by direct engagement with the cement and concrete community - through the GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and American Cement Association and, of course, our strategic investor and partner Buzzi Unicem USA. We’re now continuing this critical effort and are thrilled to announce that FOKION TASOULAS has joined our Board of Directors. With over 35 years of experience in the #cement industry, and more recently in the startup space, Fokion brings a unique blend of deep technical expertise and industry perspective. Excited to work with him, Matthew Cohen, Peter Sopher, and Dave Gersholowitz as we push Queens Carbon forward. Stay tuned for more exciting updates - and yes, we’re hiring engineers, scientists, and a program manager if you know anyone passionate about the #FutureOfCement!
From vision to impact. In New York this week for the Queens Carbon Board Meeting, I found myself reflecting on the path that brought me here. Twelve years ago, I co-founded UCANDRONE, when drones were still science fiction. Eight years ago, at Titan Cement, I led one of the first AI-operated transformations in heavy industry — long before GPT made “AI” mainstream. And now, seeing Rondo Energy deploy the world’s largest industrial heat battery, I feel proud to have supported yet another leap from idea to reality. The pattern is simple: keep moving where industries are about to be reinvented — not where they already feel safe. #innovation #AI #energytransition #industrialfuture #leadership #QueensCarbon

Come find Dave Gersholowitz and myself at Decarb Connect TechInvest in Boston next week! Catch our pitch and booth for a closer look at Queens Carbon technology! #DecarbTechInvestNA25 #QueensCarbon #FutureOfCement
🚀 DECARB TECHINVEST EXHIBITOR ANNOUNCEMENT: QUEENS CARBON 🚀 We’re pleased to welcome Queens Carbon as an exhibitor at Decarb TechInvest North America, happening September 9–10 in Boston. Queens Carbon is reinventing how cementitious materials are made — without combustion, without CO₂ emissions and at competitive cost. Our patented Q-System is a modular platform that uses steam pressure to convert standard raw materials into cementitious materials at less than half the temperature of the legacy process. This enables electrification, energy efficiency, and a compelling path for the industry to profitably decarbonize. Our first product, Q-SCM, is a zero-CO₂ material that replaces up to 50% of standard cement, cutting CO2 emissions in half. With Buzzi Unicem as a strategic partner, we’re piloting a 2,000 ton/year system and rapidly advancing towards commercialization. Find out more about Queens Carbon and their work here: https://hubs.li/Q03DGR9_0 Why #DecarbTechInvestNA25? 🇺🇸 Decarb TechInvest North America is the must-attend event for those driving the commercial scale-up of climate-critical hardware in hard-to-abate sectors. Join 200+ leaders this September in Boston as we: ⚙️ Confront the scale-up and deployment challenges facing climate hardtech 💸 Dive into proven strategies for financing, de-risking, and structuring FOAK and beyond. 🤝 Connect with Series B+ founders, industrials, investors, and policymakers shaping the next phase of decarbonization. Woohoo! 🎉 Huge congratulations to our co-founders Professor Richard Riman and Daniel Kopp on receiving the 2025 Edison Patent Award for their invention of Hydrothermal Vapor Synthesis - the technology behind Queens Carbon. #FutureOfCement is here—the revolution in low-carbon cementitious materials is underway! 🌍⚡️ A big thank you to our incredible supporters and partners for believing in this mission: Clean Energy Ventures, Buzzi Unicem USA, Plug and Play Tech Center, Clean Energy Venture Group, Breakthrough Energy , and Rutgers University. #EdisonPatentAward #CementDecarbonization #ProfitableSustainability
💡⚡️Thrilled and honored to share that I’ve received the 2025 Edison Patent Award from the Research & Development Council of NJ, alongside my Ph.D. advisor and long-time collaborator, Professor Richard Riman, for our invention of Hydrothermal Vapor Synthesis (HVS). This award, now in its 46th year, is considered the state's highest recognition for invention and innovation🚀 What started at Rutgers University as a bold vision for low-cost, low-energy materials processing is now the foundation of Queens Carbon, which I co-founded with Dave Gersholowitz and Richard Riman. Together with our incredible team 🧑🔬👩🔬, we’re using HVS (now called the Q-Process 😀) to make low-carbon cementitious materials - helping to tackle one of the world’s most carbon-intensive industries head-on. 🌍 This award carries special meaning because #ThomasEdison himself was deeply involved in #cement: from founding the Edison Portland Cement Company in New Jersey to pioneering rotary kiln designs that shaped modern cement production. To be recognized in Edison’s name, for work aimed at reimagining how cement is made for a #sustainable future, is an incredible honor. 💡⚡️ 🔗 Read more: R&D Council of NJ: http://bit.ly/4mIJdPQ NJ Business Magazine Coverage - http://bit.ly/3V7Uj53 🔬 Join us: https://lnkd.in/eWNcMdPG New Jersey Business Magazine Rutgers University Rutgers Research Bell Works Kim Case Eusebio Pires, Ph.D, MBA Deborah Perez Fernandez Rutgers Materials Science and Engineering #EdisonPatentAward #EdisonPatentAwards #InnovationNJ #STEMLeadership #RDCouncil #ResearchToImpact #MaterialsScience #CementDecarbonization #FutureOfCement

🌍 The future of cement is here — and it’s carbon-neutral, cost-competitive, and built in America.⚡ Queens Carbon has closed a $10M Seed Round to revolutionize how the world manufactures cement. This round was led by Clean Energy Ventures, with participation from Plug and Play Tech Center, Clean Energy Venture Group, and strategic partner Buzzi Unicem USA. 💥 Why it matters: #Cement is the most used man-made material on Earth — and one of the most carbon-intensive. To meet global demand in a sustainable way, we need a better way to build. At Queens Carbon, we’ve developed a #breakthrough process, rooted in novel hydrothermal chemistry, that lowers the energy required to make cement — delivering ASTM-compliant, carbon-neutral products without the green premium. 🚀 What’s next: ✅ Build our 2,000 ton-per-year pilot facility ✅ Grow our world-class team ✅ Accelerate toward a 300,000 ton-per-year FOAK commercial plant We’re proud to lead the charge in reshoring industrial innovation, powering the energy transition, and helping cement producers decarbonize at scale — all while improving industry economics! Huge thanks to our investors, our strategic partners, and the whole Queens Carbon team. Let’s keep building the #FutureofCement — cleaner, smarter, faster. 🛠️⚡ #cement #concrete #sustainability #builtenevironment #decarbonization #manufacturing #infrastructure #cleanenergy #industrialinnovation #startupfunding #nogreenpremium This brings our total funding to over $30M, including: 🔹 $14.5M from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) 🔹 Catalytic capital from Breakthrough Energy Fellows and CapeSilver Climate Investments More here: https://lnkd.in/e7SgjDGw
