Earlier this month, RISE was in Houghton, MI for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Michigan Technological University’s East Hall. RISE’s public-private partnership (P3) with Michigan Technological University culminated with the on-time and on-budget delivery of the new residence hall. Following a fast-track development, design and financing process, East Hall broke ground in October 2023. Over 500 student beds were delivered as part of the University’s long-term Master Plan to accommodate enrollment growth on campus. The RISE team is thrilled to have delivered another transformative campus development that is on track to achieve LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. RISE is pleased to announce the addition of Eric Heninger as Vice President of Asset Management. Heninger brings more than 20 years of experience in multifamily and student housing operations, finance, and asset management to the RISE team. His initial priorities include strengthening the company’s asset management framework, supporting lender and partner reporting, and exploring opportunities for enhanced financial performance. “My short-term goals are to get to know the RISE team, understand our collective objectives, and identify ways to improve efficiencies and outcomes across our assets,” said Heninger. “I’m also eager to begin building a capital-event-driven asset management function.” Heninger’s enthusiasm, financial acumen, and industry insight make him a welcome addition to the RISE leadership team as the company continues to grow its portfolio and strengthen its operational excellence. GTIS Partners and RISE recently announced their next joint venture, bringing 718 Off-campus beds to serve Auburn University students. GTIS and RISE assembled and entitled a 4.3-acre site which is situated approximately half a mile from campus. The project will feature a highly amenitized building, offering students structured parking, a full-scale gym, a resort-style pool, a golf simulator, and study lounges. Ryan Holmes, RISE CEO, shared, “Our goal is to create thoughtfully designed spaces and amenities that make life both easier and more fulfilling for Auburn students." RISE celebrated the topping out of the West Village student housing development at Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, AL) last month marking a major milestone for the second phase of this transformational campus project. West Village is Phase II of the Public-Private Partnership (P3) between RISE, Jacksonville State University, the Jax State Foundation, Choate Construction, the Foresite Group, KMS, Niles Bolton and Associates, and Stifel Bank & Trust. West Village will bring a 715-bed, 257,542 SF student community to campus for the Fall 2026 semester. This will be the University’s largest residence hall. Phase I, North Village Hall, delivered 516 student beds to campus on-budget and on-time for the Fall 2024 semester. The RISE team, led by Senior VP of Development Jeremy Doss, visited Jacksonville State University last month to celebrate the progress and recognize the hard work of the team and subcontractors. Lunch was served and prizes were raffled as a show of gratitude. Randy Jones, the JSU Board of Trustees Chairman, delivered brief remarks. He lauded the transformation this project is bringing, not only to the campus, but to the entire region. He expanded on the impact this development will have for current and future students and administration officials. From breaking ground in April of this year, to topping out in July, West Village is tracking for an on-time and on-budget delivery in 2026. On Wednesday July 30, RISE joined partners in Knoxville, TN to celebrate the topping out of Torchbearer Hall. To recognize this milestone, a luncheon was served by team members to the many subcontractors working to bring this project to life. The event also included a raffle drawing which included a Blackstone Griddle donated by RISE. Torchbearer Hall is part of Phase II of the Public-Private Partnership (P3) with the University of Tennessee which will deliver 1,028 beds to campus for the Fall 2026 semester. Phase I was completed ahead-of-schedule with two residence halls (Poplar and Beacon Halls) preparing to welcome students home for the first time in the coming weeks. This fast-tracked P3 was first-of-its-kind higher education housing P3 in the state of Tennessee and delivered 2,000 beds in a record 20 months. RISE Senior VP of Development, Jeremy Doss, delivered remarks alongside Mike Brady (UTK Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Services) and Gary Bennett (President at Blaine Construction). They all noted the incredible teamwork necessary to reach this milestone as well as noting the prominence and transformational impact of this on-campus development. 2,000 Beds in 20 Months The University of Tennessee is preparing to welcome students this semester to two new residence halls. RISE is delivering Beacon Hall and Poplar Hall as part of a fast-tracked public-private partnership with the University ahead of move-ins. Phase II will see Torchbearer Hall bring an additional 1,028 beds to campus for the Fall 2026 semester.
