During the winter break, SAFE's Children’s Services will need food donations to support families while children are out of school for the holiday break. We invite donors to contribute snacks and already prepped meals to help provide daily meals and special treats for children attending our extended activities. This is a great opportunity for your company or organization to give back this holiday season! Sign up for a slot at https://lnkd.in/gHcBHb2Z

An Austin, TX nonprofit working to stop abuse for everyone through direct services, prevention, advocacy, and training.
About us
The SAFE Alliance is a Central Texas nonprofit organization working to stop abuse for everyone. SAFE supports children, adults, and families who have experienced abuse by providing safety, stability, and healing. To more effectively put an end to child abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking, SAFE provides shelter, counseling, legal assistance, sexual assault forensic exams, supervised visitation and exchange services, and more. In addition to direct services, SAFE works to prevent violence before it occurs through parenting assistance and education, programs that promote healthy teen relationships, and working with communities disproportionately affected by abuse. Violence and abuse are a cycle, often transferred across generations. We work to break that cycle. Central Texans may know our work in its iterations through different names and mergers over the past 50 years we've served survivors of violence and abuse. Today, we are known as SAFE - a national leader in innovative and effective programs that provide a sense of safety, dignity, and hope for survivors of sexual assault, child abuse, sex trafficking, and domestic violence in Central Texas. With an annual budget of more than $20 million, more than 350 employees and thousands of volunteers, SAFE now has prevention and crisis programs operating across multiple campuses and in the schools, hospitals, courts, county and District Attorney’s offices. NEED HELP? SAFEline is a 24-hour confidential hotline for people seeking help with sexual or domestic violence, child abuse, human trafficking, or parenting support and is available by phone at 512.267.SAFE (7233), by text at 737.888.7233, or by online chat at safeaustin.org/chat.

SAFE's Board Chair Lila Evangelista Brolsma is delighted to announce SAFE's incoming CEO, Pierre Berastain, DrPH, M.Div. "This is a pivotal and meaningful moment for our organization and for Austin. Pierre is a dynamic leader who will guide us through a period of renewal while building on SAFE’s strong history and foundation. His experience, empathy, and mission-centric vision will directly support the evolving needs of survivors in our community. I'm confident he will strengthen services, broaden partnerships, and help SAFE meet our community's growing needs with innovation and resolve. About Pierre Pierre brings nearly two decades of executive leadership across national nonprofits, philanthropy, and higher education—all deeply rooted in survivor-centered service and systems change. He most recently served as Regional Director for North America and Interim Global Executive Director at the Centre for Public Impact, a Boston Consulting Group–founded organization advancing effective and human-centered governance worldwide. Before that, Pierre held senior and executive roles at organizations you may know well: Caminar Latino–Latinos United for Peace and Equity, Harvard University's Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response, and the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH) in Washington, D.C., where he led major expansions in housing operations and survivor support systems. National Perspectives on SAFE's Leadership and Impact Pierre's appointment has drawn recognition from national leaders in the violence prevention field who understand both the impact of SAFE's critical work and the strength of Pierre's exceptional, proven track record in this work. What This Means Pierre will lead our team of 300 dedicated staff members as we continue providing safety, stability, and comfort to more than 1,000 people every night, over half of whom are children. These individuals receive care and support through our integrated model of shelter, housing, counseling, legal advocacy, medical care, prevention programming, and 24/7 crisis response. Your generosity brings this healing and hope to life. I’m confident that Pierre’s leadership will help us deepen this life-changing work and inspire even greater collective commitment to creating a safer community for everyone. Please join me in welcoming Pierre to SAFE. His leadership marks an exciting new chapter for SAFE, and we are thrilled to see the progress and possibilities that will unfold under his guidance."

Last week, SAFE's CEO Julia Spann retired after nearly 30 years of dedication to the agency. Her last day was at our Celebration event, which honors the healing and hope that survivors find at SAFE. It was a fitting time to also reflect on Julia's legacy and all the work she has done to help SAFE grow into the agency it is today. Julia, we wish you the best in retirement and many days spent in your happy place amongst the flowers of your beautiful garden!
