Tau showcased the validation study of the Gamma eMachine at #ClimateWeek 2025. The platform offers a breakthrough in electric motor technology that eliminates rare earth materials and redefines what’s possible in sustainable electrification. Gamma is the result of years of innovation across electromagnetics, power electronics, controls, and hardware design. It reflects our belief that the future of energy systems must be efficient, resilient, and scalable. Presenting the technology at Columbia Engineering's Center of Advanced Electrification Climate Week Symposium was a special moment as Tau works to accelerate the electrification of everything. Our Founder and CEO Wesley Pennington was joined on stage by CCAE Director and Associate Professor Matthias Preindl who reviewed the validation study of the technology, underscoring the importance of collaboration between industry and academia. We’re excited to announce a strategic development partnership between FORVIA HELLA and Tau Motors, focused on delivering the next generation of onboard charging technology for electric vehicles. At the heart of this collaboration is the virtually isolated Onboard Charger (viOBC) - an advanced charging solution that offers: - High power density achieves up to 7 kW per liter of installation volume, setting new benchmarks in compactness and performance. - The transformerless design delivers more than 98% efficiency during the charging process, leading to lower electricity costs and reduced CO₂ emissions. - Space and weight savings reduces the onboard charger’s volume by up to 50% and weight by around 33%. - Bidirectional charging and vehicle-to-grid integration. With a prototype already successfully tested for technological and commercial viability, series production is targeted within the next 2-3 years.
