About us
Founded in 1887, Teichert’s two main operating companies are Teichert Construction and Teichert Materials. Teichert Construction holds California State Contractor’s License #8, the oldest active license in California. Teichert Construction is a general contractor that builds the infrastructure people use each day, including hundreds of thousands of mile of roads and freeways, commercial and industrial sitework, parks, airports, and more. One advantage that Teichert Construction brings our customers is a full line of construction services. These include mass grading, asphalt paving, concrete paving, curbs and sidewalks and underground pipelines. We stay on the cutting edge, from training our employees to outfitting our construction equipment with the latest technology for greater job efficiency. Teichert Materials is one of the largest construction materials producers in the county. This includes; Teichert Aggregates, a rock, sand, gravel and asphaltic concrete producer. Teichert Materials makes the materials to build homes, schools, offices, roads, levees and other community projects. Since our business is dependent on the use of natural resources, we work closely with neighbors, environmental experts and public officials to design, reclaim and replenish the environment in which we work. On Wednesday night, I had the privilege of attending the WTS Sacramento reception honoring Dina El-Tawansy, recently appointed as the 35th Director of Caltrans. Teichert was proud to sponsor this inspiring event celebrating a trailblazer in our industry. Director El-Tawansy brings over three decades of experience to her new role, managing a nearly $20 billion budget and leading more than 22,000 employees across California’s vast transportation network. Her commitment to multimodal, sustainable, and equitable transportation solutions is exactly what our state needs as we look to the future. From being the first woman to serve as Bay Area District 4 Director to her leadership across multiple regions, Dina has consistently broken barriers and delivered results. After over three years of dedication and collaboration, Teichert Construction is proud to celebrate the completion of this transformative project along the Highway 156 corridor. This success belongs to everyone involved - from local communities and San Benito County to our partners at Caltrans and surrounding cities. Your vision made this possible. Community-centered delivery: When Mitchell Road required full closure, we didn't just post signs - we partnered with Caltrans' Public Information Office to engage local businesses and residents early. Our team worked extended shifts and weekends to reopen the intersection four months ahead of schedule. Union Road followed suit, opening early and earning positive feedback from the County and local businesses. We also worked closely with a local agricultural operator, coordinating after-hours and weekend work to maintain 24-hour farm access and minimize irrigation disruptions - efforts the landowner personally recognized in writing. This collaborative approach earned us Caltrans' 2024 and 2025 Success in Motion Gold Awards, multiple partnering awards, and excellent safety performance throughout. Special recognition to Nate Gonzalez and our Teichert team, along with Nash Munes, Frank Sana, and the entire Caltrans team.
