Ensuring communities have stable, high-quality, affordable homes remains at the center of our work, and it’s encouraging to see that focus reflected in recent coverage. Thoughtful, pragmatic policymaking is essential to expanding access to the housing New Yorkers deserve. This month, Jesse Batus and Bart Mitchell were featured in Reuters, Commercial Observer and The Wall Street Journal, offering perspective on how smart, resident-focused policy can strengthen housing stability and support communities across the city. As New York City enters a new chapter, we look forward to working with Mayor Mamdani and partners across the housing ecosystem to advance solutions that create opportunity and deliver the affordable homes New Yorkers need. Thank you Lisa for facilitating such a great workshop for TCB staff!
Lisa Clark led an insightful and engaging Everything DiSC® workshop, guiding the The Community Builders, Inc. team through a deeper understanding of themselves and the people they work with every day. The session was not only fun and highly engaging, but also filled with meaningful “aha!” moments that participants can immediately apply in their roles and across their teams. A big shout-out to The Community Builders, Inc. for leaning into the learning with curiosity, openness, and enthusiasm. It's inspiring to see a team so committed to growing together and strengthening how they show up for their mission and for each other. The Community Builders, Inc. reposted this
It was a wonderful day with the Boston Housing Authority! Mass. Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu led the celebration with our own Andy Waxman, as Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Ed Augustus announced new funding for the Faneuil Gardens redevelopment. Thanks to all the residents who make this community such a special place. Let phase one begin! #communitybuilders #affordablehousing #boston #publichousing
We were so excited to join Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Ed Augustus Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, for an their announcement of nearly $20 million of state funding for the planned redevelopment of Faneuil Gardens in Brighton. This incredible investment will help us move forward with Phase 1, which will replace 81 State Public Housing Units in the community with modernized units and add an additional 33 affordable apartments, for a total of 114 homes. This funding gives us momentum towards our plan, in partnership with The Community Builders, Inc., to preserve all 258 units of deeply affordable housing and create 187 new and desperately needed additional units at Faneuil. Special thanks to House Majority Leader Michael Moran for being such a huge advocate for this community and this project. It was a great day for the residents and a great day for Brighton!

With support from the Citi Foundation Global Innovation Challenge, TCB’s Home Room 2.0 Community Life initiative helps formerly homeless residents in Chicago build housing stability and pathways to economic mobility. We’re proud that our own Cydni Polk Blocker joined with Citi and changemakers from across the globe to share insights, learn together, and lead toward stronger communities. #CommunityBuilders #CommunityDevelopment #HousingStability #EconomicMobility #GlobalInnovation
In 2024, The Community Builders, Inc. was honored to receive $500,000 in funding through the Citi Foundation Global Innovation Challenge; our award focused on the Chicago region through our Homeroom 2.0 initiative. With this support, Homeroom 2.0 complements Illinois’ State Referral Network by helping residents, many of whom were previously unhoused, to not only stabilize their households but to also access the tools and supports needed to stay housed and thrive. This work is driven on a daily basis by committed resident leaders, and the support of our talented Community Life Team. Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining Citi in NY alongside fellow awardees from around the world for a breakfast that challenged us to stabilize, collaborate, and innovate. We engaged in an interactive session led by IDEO.org that encouraged us to lean into our similarities and differences, celebrate wins and acknowledge challenges, and recognize the power of an interdependent network. Thank you so much Charlotte and Zebbie for your vision and planning ! I’m excited to continue building these connections and taking this work to the next level for the residents who need it most. #GlobalInnovationChallenge #CitiFoundation
