Back at it again, multiple departments at UCLA West Valley Medical Center "adopted" seniors through the ONEgeneration Holiday Program, showering them with gifts and essentials. This year we adopted 16 seniors, and are grateful for the opportunity to give back to members of our community. Thank you to our teams for spreading cheer!

Starting tomorrow, we're honored to share a special narrative podcast titled Sidewalk Stories, inspired by real-life relationships between an unhoused person and their mental health outreach provider on the Los Angeles County Homeless Outreach and Mobile Engagement team, known as HOME. Though identifying details have been changed, the heart of these stories remains intact. We aim to shine a light on their tireless work and amplify their voices to raise awareness, break down stigma, and highlight a crisis affecting cities across the country. Their work is a beautiful reminder that by offering a helping hand, a listening ear, and leading with empathy, we can inspire hope and help others know that they are never alone. Join us on our Spotify and Apple Podcasts channel tomorrow, November 18th. . . . #uclapmhp #podcast #community #mentalhealth #lacounty #inspire

SMUCLA is the first hospital in the UC system — and one of fewer than 50 worldwide — to earn Magnet recognition with Distinction for nursing excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care. This recognition reflects the dedication and expertise of our nurses and care teams, whose compassion and innovation continue to raise the bar for patient care every day. This past year, UCLA Health auxiliary volunteers donated over 500,000 hours of service. A recent luncheon celebrated the Auxiliary's 70th anniversary and featured a "fashion show" with donated items found in our very own UCLA Thrift Shop. Volunteer hours vary from strolling kindness carts around the hospital with coffee and snacks, to bringing creative projects bedside, staffing gift shops and providing a furry cuddle with friends at the UCLA People-Animal Connection. “I’m grateful to come to work each day surrounded by people who just want to spread goodwill and bring joy and comfort to others,” says Volunteer Services Director Carey McCarthy, MPH.
