  • This past year, VMFA has added a diverse group of compelling artworks to our growing permanent collection. Said acquisitions include notable additions to our collections of South Asian Art, Decorative Art, Indigenous Art, African Art, Photography, and Modern & Contemporary Art. • A Frida Kahlo painting is making headlines just in time for the end of our run of "Frida: Beyond the Myth." When Kahlo's “El sueño (La cama)” goes to auction at Southeby's, it could set the record for the highest price paid at auction for a Frida Kahlo work—a record currently held by her painting "Diego y yo." The piece could also set the record for the highest price paid at auction for any work by a female artist—a record currently held by Georgia O’Keeffe’s “Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1.” Read more about the potentially history-making sale at the link below. Visit www.vmfa.museum to dive into Kahlo's life, art, and legacy in "Frida: Beyond the Myth," closing Sunday, September 28.

  • We're closing in on the end of an incredible run of "Frida: Beyond the Myth" at VMFA. Over the past five months, our visitors have enjoyed the rare opportunity to be in the presence of artist Frida Kahlo's immortalizing work. The exhibition focuses on the artist's life and legacy as portrayed through her own paintings and drawings, as well as photographs of Kahlo taken by many of those closest to her. Due to popular demand, additional timeslots are now available to see "Frida: Beyond the Myth" on the final five days of the exhibition. Visitors can view the exhibition 9 am–9 pm, Wednesday–Sunday, September 24–28. Get your tickets to the exhibition at the link below now through September 28.
