Investment funds partner Alexandra Chauvin took the stage at the PEI Women in Private Markets Summit, moderating a panel on secondaries alongside Kerstin Ursu (Raymond James), Anne Gales (Threadmark), Wandy Hoh (Macquarie Asset Management) and Laia Massague (Stepstone). The group discussed several key trends: • The secondaries market is now more institutionalized and specialized, and is set for a record 2025, likely surpassing $200 billion. • Continuation funds are becoming more bespoke, with the role of lead investors remaining crucial. The market is also bifurcating: larger deals with bigger lead tickets are rising, while mid-market managers are using continuation vehicles for liquidity, leading to smaller sized transactions. • Secondaries are now key for active portfolio management. Investors are adjusting allocations in response to positive market changes, and are using secondaries to rebalance exposure across asset classes. • With infrastructure and real estate secondaries growing rapidly, the secondaries market is here to stay and will continue to expand.
