Organizing elements with lines
- [Instructor] Have you ever considered the importance of line and how it can be used as an organizing element to aid user comprehension? The seventh of the eight elements of design is line. Prized for its versatility, line can be used in a variety of ways to organize, emphasize, and embellish information. Not only can you use line as stroke to define and enhance the shapes within your layout, but you can also use line to lead the eye directionally, to set boundaries between objects and to otherwise organize elements within a section, row, column, sidebar, or other area of emphasis. In the world of art and design, the term line refers to any actual or implied mark, path, mass or edge, which defines position and or direction in the design. In digital design, lines can be created with a pen, pencil, brush, crayon, or other mark-making tools found in design software programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Canva, and Procreate.
