- What about a tool that lets you gauge a clear picture of potential growth and market share? This is where the Boston box comes in. You'll hear that abbreviated as a BCG Matrix. It stands for Boston Consulting Group Matrix. If you've watched other courses with me, you know that I'm partial to management consulting. That's where a big part of my career was spent. I'm keen on consulting tools because they let you build a quick yet comprehensive perspective. They are designed to save you time and build a clear view worthy of stakeholders' time. The BCG Matrix is also called Growth Share Matrix. The box is a two by two matrix with four quadrants. The axes represent low to high market growth and low to high market share.
