On this Giving Tuesday, I'm reflecting on volunteerism as one of the most underestimated forms of community infrastructure. The most durable community outcomes don't happen through statements or campaigns. They happen because people choose to show up consistently and do the work that holds others steady. In AARP Foundation's Tax-Aide and Experience Corps programs, I see this every day. Volunteers are not "helpers"; they are critical partners who drive financial stability for older adults and strengthen academic confidence for students. Their contribution is material, measurable and indispensable. Today is a reminder that generosity is multidimensional. Money matters, but so do presence, accountability, and follow-through. Those forms of giving often yield the deepest impact. To every volunteer who operates with that level of commitment: thank you! Your discipline and service create outcomes that last. And if you are looking for a meaningful way to contribute this season, consider giving your time. When applied with purpose, it remains one of the most powerful levers for change. #GivingTuesday #Volunteerism #Leadership #AARPFoundation

Volunteer is essential. Great accomplishment!

Beautifully said! I’ve always believed volunteerism is the infrastructure that holds communities and organizations together, and I’m grateful for everyone who gives their time with that level of purpose.
