In this month’s newsletter, we explore how smart investments and locally led solutions are building resilience and expanding opportunity—from transforming traditional savings systems with digital innovation to helping farmers and communities adapt to climate change and eliminate deadly diseases. ⤵️
Congratulations on this great investment! At Resilience Action Network Africa (RANA) and rani - Resilience Action Network International we are seized of this reality and are committed to mobilizing and engaging with impacted communities to drive systemic transformation through networked advocacy to center resilience of communities in key government programs and policies in response to the converging crises of climate change, increased risks of disease outbreaks, food crisis, deepening inequalities among others. Glad to see Gates Foundation taking lead on and we are happy to partner with the foundation to advance this agenda.
Smart, locally led solutions are exactly what communities need to build real and lasting resilience. The focus on digital innovation, climate adaptation, and disease elimination is especially important for regions like Africa, where locally driven models often generate the most sustainable impact. Thank you to the Gates Foundation for continuing to highlight practical pathways that expand opportunity and strengthen community resilience. Looking forward to engaging with this month’s Optimist insights. #ClimateResilience #DigitalInnovation #GlobalHealth #LocallyLedDevelopment
Incredible to see how the Gates Foundation is turning bold ideas into real-world impact in the November “The Optimist” — from digitally empowering informal vendors in Nigeria to investing US $1.4 billion to help smallholder farmers adapt to climate change, and spotlighting malaria success stories like Cabo Verde. We need more of this: where technology meets local leadership, resilience becomes opportunity. #GlobalHealth #ClimateAction #FinancialInclusion #SustainableDevelopment #HopeInAction
An investment in the right direction, true climate change affects many areas like health, nutrition, income levels. Addressing this one big elephant will bring change in all these other areas. Great work
Expanding opportunities to reduce disasters and prevent and save lives from global extreme weather and deadly diseases would be a great blessing for humanity.
I wonder how far this whole research is taking in consideration some contamination; of the air by low pm chemicals; and even mold due to the drypng out of soils and the related sandstorms. Breakdowns of fascia; together with post viral syndromes are actually basic symptoms with even, beside lung interactions - in my opinion - a bigger cause of heallth deplation in rural entities than the CO2 problems in big cities. If interested in my hypothetical aprouch; don't hesitate to drop me a line. Guy Van Elsacker guy.vanelsacker@gmail.com or by preference and better via LinkedIn. Hello Gates Foundation, My name is Freeman Ajiga. I am a social media strategist and the convener of the Global Creatives Conference (GCC), a tech and creativity event happening on January 31st, 2026 in Niger State, Nigeria. Our mission is to empower young people with digital skills, inspire innovation, and connect them to opportunities in the tech industry. We are expecting 500 attendees physically and about 3,000 people online for this first edition. I noticed the impactful work you are doing to uplift communities and support youth growth. I believe a partnership with GCC would further strengthen that mission by giving many young Nigerians access to new career pathways. I would love to share our sponsorship proposal with you and see how you might want to support this initiative, financially or in kind. Kindly let me know if I may send you the proposal. Thank you for your time, and I truly appreciate the work you are doing. Warm regards, Freeman Ajiga Convener, Global Creative Conference [+234 7042512555] [globalcreatorsconference@gmail.com]
