A few weeks ago I attended the Texas A&M Global Cyber Research Institute Summit 2025. One of my professors made me aware of the summit and even cancelled classes for the event.
I enjoyed learning more about the past, present, and future of cybersecurity. This summit focused on OT security, which is an area I'm not as familiar with, and of course securing AI workloads.
It was great learning from computer science professors at Texas A&M on how they teach ethics in their capstone and computer science courses. Making ethics a topic that is headed by the students, a topic that they are excited about. Ethics is a necessity for all professions, especially in computing fields where we handle extremely personal information.
Later in the day I learned more about how companies secure OT in critical infrastructure such as factories and in the power grid. It was very interesting to learn about the different standards that are in use in sectors such as electricity which allow utilities to define a set desired configuration and security state allowing utilities to detect potential security or configuration issues when the systems state drifts from the defined configuration.
Overall I learned a lot, met some interesting people, and can't wait until my next cybersecurity conference!

Challenge accepted, Flavius Plesu! 💪
Thanks OutThink for this initiative and for donating $50 to cybersecurity education for every challenge accepted. Security starts with awareness, and awareness starts young.
In this 30-second video, I share practical tips to reduce your human attack surface on LinkedIn:
🎯 Spotting fake recruiters (they're everywhere right now!)
🎯 Removing oversharing that helps attackers and limiting public contact information
🎯 Auditing your connections
Your LinkedIn profile can be a goldmine for criminals. Let's make it harder for them.
Who's next? I'm challenging Andrea Scaduto, Fred Blaise and Tiago Coimbra to share their security tip!

Shout out to Connie Aplin and the NPower team for hosting another “Mock it till you Rock it!” interview session.
These sessions give participants a safe environment to practice interviewing - and they’re also a great opportunity for volunteers.
Whether you’re a seasoned interviewer who can guide others, or you want to gain experience from the hiring manager’s perspective, everyone benefits.
A few thoughts for those early in your career (or transitioning into tech):
✅ Experience isn’t just a job title.
If you’ve worked in any role, gone to school, or completed a development program — that’s all experience. Teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and integrity apply everywhere.
✅ Prepare your stories.
Use something like the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Have a few examples that highlight your strengths. Even as the interviewee, you can guide the conversation toward your best stories.
✅ Make it a conversation.
Ask good questions throughout — not just at the end. It shows curiosity and helps you connect on a human level. For in person interviews, make good eye contact. For video interviews, look at the camera when you are speaking so it feels like you are still making eye contact and poise.
✅ Practice.
Mock interviews help build confidence. Ask a friend, mentor, or even use ChatGPT to run through questions and refine your answers.
Appreciate NPower for continuing to create spaces where learning meets opportunity.
What’s one piece of interview advice you wish you’d known early in your career?
