KPFF Consulting Engineers’ Post

As part of our annual SE2050 Embodied Carbon Action Plan (ECAP), KPFF proudly hosted our third Structural Embodied Carbon Summit, bringing together passionate engineers from all 11 of our structural offices.   We kicked things off with a company-wide presentation by our Embodied Carbon Co-Champions, Shana Kelley, PE, SE (Seattle Structural) and Molly Seto, SE (San Francisco), titled “Reducing Embodied Carbon: Tools, Data, and Support at KPFF.” Their insights energized our Principals and Associates, showcasing the tools and resources available to help us drive meaningful change.   The summit’s goal was to connect our embodied carbon champions, foster knowledge-sharing, and collaboratively discuss company-wide goals. Each champion will bring this knowledge back to their local office, helping us organically grow our embodied carbon expertise across KPFF.   Throughout the summit, we: - Explored setting embodied carbon limits in specifications and drawings - Got hands-on with our new in-house Embodied Carbon Calculator - Shared LCA best practices and reviewed the new ASCE Pre-standard It was an inspiring time to connect, collaborate, and reaffirm our commitment to reducing embodied carbon in the built environment. We’re excited to continue supporting our clients in delivering more sustainable projects. #EngineeringExcellence #SustainableDesign #EngineeringOpportunities
