It’s easy to look around and think you should be building your brand like every other founder.
But if it isn’t authentic, it won’t stick.
Helen Min (Articulate) and Ashley Mayer (Coalition) share why the best founder content strategy is the one you’ll actually enjoy following through on.👇
And I feel like there's so much pressure on founders today, like do you need to go viral on Twitter? Do you need a hype video for your fundraise? Do you need a podcast? And so I think one thing, so Helen and I are both early stage investors now, went like Barney and Collins background. So we spent a lot of time with our startups, like a lot of its exploration with founders in terms of like, what do you want to try? What feels authentic, what feels good to you? And So what she just described with drill is, is something that's happening and like all stages of company building. Which is you want to balance, like pushing yourself and trying things, but you don't want to look around and try to copy what everyone else is doing, especially if that doesn't feel like something you can be really, like, successful at and really authentic and doing. Yeah, because I think a winning strategy with content is consistency, right? And so if you're not doing this day in and day out, it's going to be hard to sustain. It's any hard to stick. It's not really effective. And guess what? If you don't enjoy it, you're always going to find an exterior. You put it at the bottom of your To Do List and then you'll get done and it's gonna feel like work. And something that actually now I talk about all the time, you know, we have this podcast and we do these little tricks to make it feel not like work. Like we have to have thoughts. The audience can tell. And so similarly, like if you, you know, if you're a founder and the idea of being a thought leader on LinkedIn or tweeting all the time, like is just the worst thing in the world for you, you probably aren't going to stick with it. And that probably isn't going to be the best channel for you. But I promise you there is one. Use upper fighter.
That was a blast! Thanks for hosting us for a Great Chat Mini :)
