Every November, Lung Cancer Awareness Month reminds us of a truth that’s both uncomfortable and urgent: stigma kills. Lung cancer causes more deaths than breast, prostate, and colon cancer combined, yet still is often perceived as a ‘smoker’s disease.’ Language matters. The words we choose influence empathy, policy, and research priorities. As MedComms professionals, we have a duty to lead with clarity and compassion. We translate science into stories that inform without judgement, empower without shame, and give hope where stigma once stood. This month’s Health Outcomes Communicator highlights five ways publications and medical affairs teams can lead that change, from reframing the narrative to elevating patient voices. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gdmzhAmc #HealthOutcomesCommunicator #LungCancerAwarenessMonth #MedComms #ScienceCommunication #OncologyResearch

What excites me most about the ESMO - European Society for Medical Oncology Congress isn’t just the science – it’s what the science can do for patients. This year, our team is sharing new data in recurrent or metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M HNSCC), demonstrating the broader potential of our investigational targeted therapy in hard-to-treat EGFR-driven diseases. At Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, we’re paving the way for new advancements in how we treat solid tumors. With every innovation, we’re taking a step toward transforming care and giving patients and families new reasons for hope. As the conference wraps up, I’m encouraged by the future of cancer care and the role we will play in the fight against this disease: https://lnkd.in/dMjYWcEU #MyCompany #JNJOncology #ESMO25

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — and I’m honored to speak about one of the most important shifts in modern oncology: de-escalation in breast cancer care in Global Health Exhibition - ملتقى الصحة العالمي Rooted in precision oncology and value-based care, de-escalation is about right-sizing treatment — minimizing harm while preserving survival. It means using biology, risk stratification, and patient preferences to guide therapy rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. This movement is a response to years of overtreatment in an era where diagnostics and systemic therapies have advanced dramatically. It also speaks to global equity — fewer surgeries, shorter radiation, and less chemotherapy translate into improved access, reduced toxicity, and better quality of life. At King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center , we are actively implementing these strategies within our Cancer Center of Excellence, advancing integrated and personalized care pathways for every woman we treat. #BreastCancerAwareness #ValueBasedCare #PrecisionOncology #Deescalation #CancerCenterOfExcellence #KFSHRC #Vision2030

A new trial is shedding light on how a direct-to-patient digital health program, mPATH‑Lung, is making strides in lung cancer prevention. “Our study shows that reaching patients directly with digital tools can help overcome barriers to lung cancer screening and potentially save lives,” said David P. Miller, professor of implementation science in the Division of Public Health Sciences. “By empowering individuals with information and easy access to screening, we can make a real difference in early detection of lung cancer.” Learn more about the study, which recently published in JAMA: https://bit.ly/47zQr3J
