A new study maps factory farm hotspots and links them to elevated air pollution—particularly impacting rural communities. After a federal court blocked industrial livestock operations from reporting toxic emissions, Socially Responsible Agriculture Project emphasizes the urgent need for stronger policies to protect public health and the environment. 𝐀 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: fewer than 4% of climate stories in major outlets mention animal agriculture, despite livestock driving the bulk of food-system emissions. For Africa, where agriculture accounts for nearly a quarter of global farm-related emissions and millions depend on livestock for livelihoods, this silence is more than a media gap; it’s a policy risk. Without clear reporting on how diets, land use, and livestock shape emissions, pathways for low-carbon agriculture and forest protection remain underdeveloped. IATP's Claire Stockwell and Leila Yow travelled to Rome for the U.N. FAO Sustainable Livestock Conference, but were disappointed by what was covered there — and what wasn't. Too much meat and dairy industry propaganda, and not enough real solutions for industrial livestock's massive climate impacts. That's why we're focusing our efforts on transparency and accountability for major meat and dairy companies. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eMTND6wr #industrialagriculture #climatechange #methane

🐄🐓 Today, on World Farmed Animals Day, we remember the billions of animals confined, exploited, and slaughtered every year under industrial farming. Factory farming is not just cruel; it drives climate breakdown, biodiversity loss, and public health risks. It doesn’t have to be this way. Together, we can build food systems that respect animals, nourish communities, and protect our planet. 🌍✨ ✍️ Stand with us to end factory farming and demand a just food transition 👉 https://bit.ly/JTHSEFS #WorldFarmedAnimalsDay #EndFactoryFarming #JustFoodTransition

New Remedies Reduce Cattle Burps to Cut Methane Emissions Cattle burps represent one of the largest sources of methane emissions in agriculture, posing a difficult challenge for climate mitigation since behavioral changes aren't feasible for animals. Recent developments in 2025 have introduced effective food supplements that reduce methane production during digestion, becoming commercially available in various nations. These remedies, recognized in MIT Technology Review's 2025 breakthrough list, work by altering gut processes to minimize gas output without harming animal health. The rollout marks a key step in addressing emissions from the livestock sector, which contributes substantially to global warming, with potential for widespread adoption in farming practices. Broader implications include integrating these solutions into sustainable farming strategies, helping reduce the overall carbon footprint of food production and aiding international climate goals. Would you support farmers using methane-reducing supplements for livestock? Why or why not? Reply with your opinions! #CattleBurps #MethaneReduction #AgriTech #ClimateSolutions #SustainableFarming

Climate change isn’t about choosing between the environment and farming, it’s about finding the balance between productivity and reducing emissions. That was the message from RMIS CEO Dewald Olivier at the AgriSA ATLAS Congress 2025 today. He highlighted that reducing methane and other greenhouse gases must go hand in hand with protecting our ability to produce affordable, nutritious food, especially in regions where agriculture sustains both livelihoods and food security. Setting sectoral emission targets gives the agricultural sector both direction and a collective drive. #AgriSA #Sustainability #futurefocused #livestockfarming #climatesmartfarming

𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 is built into British livestock production. Pasture-based systems protect permanent grasslands, support biodiversity, and naturally sequester carbon. Sheep and cattle graze outdoors for much of the year. Pig production emphasizes housing and welfare standards that reduce environmental impact. For buyers, sourcing British meat offers more than taste. You can offer a sustainability story backed by real practices on real farms. Consumers increasingly want food choices that are healthier for themselves and lighter on the planet. British meat fits that vision. 👉 Blog: https://lnkd.in/esA8QZcb #SustainableProtein #PastureRaised #BritishMeat
